Was there a more comforting sight than seeing the place you called home after a long day of wandering the world?
Yes. Seeing the one you love sitting there waiting for you. Seeing their eyes light up as you casually stroll up to them, seeing the smile on their sweet face and watching them glow with happiness and content. Seeing them loving you.
That sight was what drew Scorn back to the worn barn time after time, over and over again. Not the sloping roof, barely clinging to peeling wooden walls that hid soft golden bays of straw. Not the gentle swish of the long grasses that stretched for years around the abandoned building, long forgotten. Not the tales of travelling felines, eyes deep with the wonders of the world.
Him. Wildtalon. Hers.
She often wondered what it would be like if they were to settle down, perhaps in a small clearing or glen, have a few kits. The thought frightened and excited her all at once, made her heart race painfully in her chest. Being in love made her soft, and she knew it. She had always laughed at the Clan queens, so dependent on another for survival. She was independent, loyal to no one but herself and the one who made her who she was. She didn't need the constant reminder that he was there, they both needed space at times, and they knew that in the end they'd always come back to one another. She wasn't worried about that.
She was worried about changing. She was worried about being a good mother, about being someone the kits could look up to, could learn from, could love as much as she would love them. Or what if she didn't? What if she hated being a mother, hated the kits for making her their mother, hated being the one they loved?
It was too much for her. She knew that one day, the time would be right. Whether that time be tomorrow or in many moons, she didn't know. But she would be ready.
"Hello?"
she called softly as she slid through the crooked barn door, hanging on rusty hinges that cried in the wind. Silence. Good. Shadows flickered across her dappled coat as she made her way towards the rafters, her favorite place, beneath the roof, speckled with holes where the rain fell through. The wind barely pierced her thick coat, and she closed her slanted green orbs, feeling content. Waiting for him.Tags: Wildtalon and others? phew thank god wildeh dun have as many threads to rp in as brittlez. xD haha. sorry for the wait, had some other threads to reply to. <3 The day was pretty in its own way, though small specks of spring rain fell all around him; the chocolate colored loner observed. His velvety blue gaze growing wide as he lifted his head up to the sky, the reflection of the suns rays breaking through the smoky clouds dancing in his eyes, soon layered by awe. It was as if the heavens were shining down on them, and he noticed with a purr, that the warm beams descended down over the wheat field and the barn he had always called home. He'd paused over the ravine looking downhill at it; maybe it was sprinkling, so? He thought the cool breeze was nice, it relaxed him. Maybe it was the calm memories of watching the rain with Scorn, a warmth swelled in his heart, Love. Or maybe it was because he knew the soft pitter patter would soothe him to a peaceful sleep and when he woke, she would be right there beside him.
Just knowing he would see her, or that she might already be waiting for him at the barn, up on the rafters, pushed an eagerness through his paws. He hastily loped towards the run down building, the red paint chipped to reveal the old coating of brown beneath it. In some areas, there was no color at all, just the tone of the plain wood the twolegs had used to build the barn with. He smiled his delicate smile, tenderness continuing to wash over him. Poking his head inside, he glanced around. It seemed to be empty but she could be anywhere, moonstones flickering up towards the lopsided roof beam, he smirked. If she's up there, there's only one way to find out. In all his hearts contentment, he leaped as swiftly as he could up onto the girder, and noticed, lovingly, there she was.
Her beautiful calico coat was glossy, glistening even when the sun altered again between filtering and hiding. A purr escaped his throat, and he smiled gently.
"I'm home, m'love." Pressing his nose into her fur from behind, he gave her shoulder an affectionate lick. "Miss me?"

A rustle of chocolate fur behind her made Scorn's heart leap to her throat. She had barely been there a few heartbeats, and he was already there. Looking over her shoulder, her gaze was rewarded with the sight of the tom called Wildtalon loping towards her on the rafters, balancing perfectly on the narrow beam.
"I'm home, m'love," he murmured, nuzzling her neck affectionately. Scorn closed her eyes happily, basking in the moment and in the sun's rays, which poured down on them, together there, loving each other's company. "Miss me?"
"As always,"
she smiled back at him, her green eyes sparkling. Last time they had been at the barn, Arianna and Dirge had interrupted them. Thankfully, no scents of rogues entered her pink nose that evening. Scorn pulled away and twisted to face the tom. "What happened with you after I left?" she asked curiously. She wanted to know if he had gotten hurt at all. Scanning his deep brown fur, she breathed a sigh of relief. Nothing seemed to be wrong. The sun was starting to set beneath the horizon, reaching its bloody fingers towards the heavens in a last desperate attempt to save the daylight. In the vibrant hues, Scorn's pelt turned amber, and her eyes burned. As her stomach growled hungrily, she winced, the noise piercing the silence. "Sorry 'bout that," she grimaced, getting to her paws. "Can we hunt first? Then we can talk." Skillfully climbing from rafter to rafter, Scorn made her way to the bottom of the barn, pausing to scent the air. Mouse. There. She slid into the shadows, hesitating long enough to flash a smile at Wildtalon. Home at last.Tags: Wildtalon and others? Blinking slowly at the cold gray of the sky, the silver rogue wondered just how many rainy days he had seen. Not that he even really knew how old he was, anyway...
Unfolding his willowy body out from under the thick fold of grass he had crudely constructed for himself, the wayward tom stood on stiff, tired legs and yawned, revealing rows of sharp fangs. His skinny tail flicked back and forth with discomfort as a light rain immediately began to wet his short fur, sending small shivers up and down his spine as he stretched his long body to and fro, taking a deep breath of the spring air that swirled around him with the rain. Good; he could smell nobody nearby. In solitude there was safety, privacy and contentment. He had resigned himself to this existence long ago, back when he was probably a year old or so. From the moment he was born, he was meant to be alone.
That wasn’t to say he had tried living with others. Far from it. A momentary lapse in attention brought on a surge of strong, vivid memories—his short time spent with the cats, or warriors, of ShadowClan. The large group of wild cats had been kind to him in return for his actions, surprisingly welcoming despite his title of “rogue”. Right, that’s what he was now. A “rogue”— branded as a dishonest, knavish individual; a scoundrel. Only a nuisance to be driven from others’ territories and an enemy to be hated and feared, a tale for kits.
Right.
Swiveling his large ears like two satellites, the silver tom scanned the area next with his senses of hearing and sight. His sharp green eyes detected only the swaying of the wind against the grass, and the distant roar of cars along the back streets and the airplanes above his head. That, or monsters and ThunderPaths, as most called them around these parts.
It wasn’t long before his gaze fell upon the red, hulking form of the barn; filled with heaps of hay, agriculture equipment and, most importantly, mice. His stomach snarled fiercely at the thought of the tiny rodent bodies, almost overcoming the disheartening fact that he was a terrible hunter. A failure in all senses of the word, really.
Swallowing his discomfort, the tom took off at a steady trot; dodging around a myriad of rocks, bushes, and even a rotting log. Ears flat against the rain, the rogue ducked hastily inside the sanctuary of the barn, pausing just inside to give his skinny body a hardy shake. Blinking his eyes against the dim light, he scanned the inside of the barn. A moment later he froze, green eyes wide, as he spotted two cats at the far end of the barn, conversing quietly and sharing tongues. Mates, or at least friends. Rogues or loners? Friend or f-?
Without even finishing his thought, the rogue turned on his paws and dove headlong into a large pile of hay, his agile paws making not even the slightest noise against the scratchy material. However, in his haste to hide, the nervous traveler had misjudged his leap. With a thump and a yelp of pain, he crashed headfirst into the wall the hay was stacked against, landing in a tangled heap of claws and fur.
Damn it.

He felt his insides fall away to mush as she turned her head around, smiling at him. He could practically feel the love burning out of her eyes, through his, and into his soul; he felt the warmth of it. Probably the most beautiful thing he'd ever felt in his entire life. Her, Scorn, and her love. As always, she breathed, and he felt his face soften. The calico pulled away to twist, so she could face him completely. He couldn't believe that he had been lucky enough to have met her; she was perfect. She was his everything, and she would be the only she-cat he would ever love. The only she-cat he ever could love, and it was a special kind of love. His heart beat steadily inside his chest and he could hear it, as if the sight of her propelled it to pump harder, allowing the blood to flow almost freely. What happened with you after I left? Oh. He'd almost forgotten about Dirge and Arianna, two rogues who'd made their presence known the last time Scorn and him had been alone. A tight anger surged through his veins then, remembering perfectly how the white she-cat had attacked Scorn. That'll never happen again, He thought, almost guiltily. He felt somehow like he had put her life in danger, and that he owed it to her. I wish she knew how much I loved her, exactly how much.
"Ay' chased off that good f'nothin' tom," he was smug though, about that. "If ye'd of seen 'em, he was runnin' wit' his tail b'tween his legs!" He chuckled, making a connection with another well known creature he preyed upon, but did not eat. "Like a rat." He had to admit that he'd chased him until he was certain he wouldn't be returning, he didn't know how long he'd been gone though. For heaven's sake, he sprinted halfway to ThunderClan and back! "But when ay' came back, y'eu were gone." A sadness lingered there, just the words. They forced him to go back and reflect on a time when she had been gone, and she had stayed gone against his will. That'd been when Flow and her kits came around, and the she-cat was pretty, but she didn't make him feel handsome and charming and loved like Scorn did. Flow would never have been able to compare to the she-cat standing before him, nobody could. Not on Earth. A growling noise brought him back to reality, and his blue moonstones flickered away instantly from her eyes, traveling down to stare questioningly at her stomach. "Hungry?" He laughed, amused. They had plenty of food around... he could practically hear the mice breathe. Sorry 'bout that, can we hunt first? Then we can talk. He nodded, in agreement. He wouldn't mind going for a meal right then either-
CRASH! A sudden collision made the Havana brown drop down in a swift crouch immediately. He twisted to peek over the edge of the rafter, eyes squinted with curiosity, reservation and uncertainty. What was that? To prevent Scorn from being put into more danger, he flicked his tail at her, his head turning to mew a sharp command. She might not listen, but he wanted her to know that he would never tell her what to do. This was for her safety. "Stay 'ere, it could b'a rat, or anoth' one of them bloody rogues," it was a small whisper, but it held an edge of gravity. His burly brown figure stealthily glided down silently to the ground floor of the barn, his soft eyes suddenly hard as he watched intently the hay... muscles bunching...
he leaped into it, ready to take out whatever it was. "Graaa!" He roared hoping to scare whatever it was off before he had the chance to kill it.
He scrabbled for a grip on it, confident that things would look up, and it would surely go away, but that was before he felt himself collide with a muscular figure. It was big. He realized suddenly:
That ain't no rat.

The calico queen blinked as Wildtalon tensed, a crash echoing through the presumably empty barn. His eyes grew wide, and he flicked his tail towards her, a signal, if anything. She wouldn't listen. It wasn't that she was arrogant or too confident. She simply didn't take orders from anyone but herself.
"Stay 'ere, it could b'a rat, or anoth' one of them bloody rogues," Wildtalon whispered in his rough voice. He turned, bulky form surprisingly agile on the narrow beam, and made his way down, down, down to the floor of the barn. Slowly, Scorn followed, daintily stepping from bale to bale, down, down down, coming to stop next to him. He did not recognize her, but remained still, facing the bulging lump in front of him. The golden straw swelled around the figure, whatever it was. Curious, Scorn sniffed, her pink nose wrinkling as she caught a familiar scent.
Too late. Wildtalon had pushed off, launching himself forward, crashing into the figure with a wild battle cry. "Graaa!" Scorn gasped as the two collided, banging into each other with a sound that was painful and shocking at the same time. Wildtalon was scabbling around, hay exploding every which way, flying at Scorn and landing in her dappled pelt. Frowning in distaste, the she-cat stepped aside into the shadows, dodging the flying rays of light.
Tobias.

As soon as his sharp ears picked up the small, muffled sounds of voices, terror gripped the rogue’s heart in a matter of moments. Fear was making him clumsy, which in turn only caused him to flail around in the hay like a drowning rat. It seemed to be everywhere, all around him. In his ears, poking at his eyes, snagging his claws, stuffing his nose, suffocating him. He struggled harder, but it was only like he was sinking now; in that moment the rogue only rediscovered just how pitiful he truly was as he continued to flop around like a freaking kit.
Failure.
He heard the soft crunching sounds of paws moving across the hay bales towards him, and in turn his struggles increased. A scent filled his nose, that of a she-cat, and for a brief moment he felt like he recognized it. But nobody’s a friend for long a voice snapped at him from the corner of his mind, goading him onward. Least of all to you. That much the silver tom knew to be true. His personality easily repelled most cats, and it wasn’t like he was unused to the feeling, or lack thereof. Gah! his thoughts hissed. Just get up, you stupid f-!
The sudden weight that crashed down on him with a hostile snarl sealed the deal.
Sharp claws attached to even more powerful paws grabbed at his thin shoulders, giving the rogue the feeling that he was suddenly rolling in a thorn bush. A heavy presence far greater than his own crushed the breath out of him, pushing his face farther into the hay, making it even harder (or at least in his mind) to breathe. Blinding terror continue to course through him, urging instinct onwards as he lashed out faithlessly at his attacker. ”Leave me alone!" he screeched, his tinny voice shrill with fear and urgency. Tap-dancing tadpoles! I’m such a coward!

this calls for a feast
Whoever it was, it was definitely a cat, that much he could tell. He scrabbled for a grip, anything, but the hay kept getting in his way and he kept breathing in pieces of it. Leave me alone! He heard a cry, it was piercing; the brown tom noticed the scent of fear that hung in the crisp air, and he felt the oncoming pang of guilt arise in his gut... but there was something else... something he hadn't checked for, or concentrated on before he'd attacked the veiled outsider. He knew that scent, he'd know it anywhere. He stopped trying to claw them, and pushed himself out of the silage. Blue eyes wary, he flattened his ears.
"Tobias?" He called out, wondering if maybe he'd smelled wrong... but another sniff quickly confirmed that it was indeed their old Rogue friend.
Ashamed and embarrassed that he'd attacked him carelssly without a seconds thought about whether or not they knew the cat, he hurried to help the pale tom out of the feed. "Tobias! I'm so sorry, mate!" He mumbled frantically, "Scorn and 'ay have been havin' tons of trouble wit' rogues lately, I thought ye might have been anoth'a one of 'em tryin' to overtake th'barn." He cleared the hay away from Tobias swiftly, and frowned. "I'm so terribly sorry, Tobias. Are ye hungry? Need a place t'stay? You're always welcome t'stay 'ere with us, you know."
Then he was concerned. Tobias didn't come around often, what was he doing back so early? He didn't press the questions yet, he'd already bombared him with plenty as is. Soft azure rays were sympathetic, and mortified; he butted the Rogue's shoulder graciously. He hoped he could forgive him; he made eye contact with Scorn, hoping she could help lend a hand. Hope to the heavens I didn't hurt him.

"Leave me alone!" the shape screeched, wholly and utterly familiar now. Scorn debated rushing in to stop Wildtalon from beating the rogue around the ears, but he already had.
"Tobias?" The chocolate tom's tone was cautious; Scorn couldn't blame him. After what had happened with Arianna and Dirge, she had been sleeping with one eye open. The two of them were usually up to no good, and what they had been doing in the barn made her wonder if they weren't up to some new evil scheme.
Wildtalon's eyes were wide with shock as he rushed forward, brushing straw off of the rogue's pale coat and stammering apologies. It was sweet, in a way.
"Tobias! I'm so sorry, mate! Scorn and 'ay have been havin' tons of trouble wit' rogues lately, I thought ye might have been anoth'a one of 'em tryin' to overtake th'barn." He hesitated, coughing slightly. "I'm so terribly sorry, Tobias. Are ye hungry? Need a place t'stay? You're always welcome t'stay 'ere with us, you know."
The calico queen moved forward, green eyes locked on the older tom's. She had always had a soft spot for the crazy rogue. "Tobias?" she prodded him softly, trying not to touch him more than was necessary. She knew he was particular about things like that.
"Tobias," she repeated, her voice firm now. "You need to tell us if you're alright." She glanced at Wildtalon, her eyes wide and sympathetic. She knew he hadn't meant to hurt Tobias. He was the sweetest creature she knew.

Perhaps his attacker was the reasonable type, for a moment later the weight drew back and air once again flooded his desperate lungs. Then a voice, deep and resonant, sounded just behind his crumpled, scrawny form, where it most likely lay like a dead fish in the hay. Wonderful.
”Tobias?”
The silver rogue froze instantly, not recognizing the voice, but chilled by its knowledge nonetheless. His skinny body stiffened instantly as he drew still, not daring to move a single muscle. Can I still escape? he wondered. I could jump, make a break for the door. But what if I have to fight? A moment later he emitted a weak hiss as he once again felt paws scrabbling around him, though this time those sharp claws were sheathed. A heart beat after that he realized his would be opponent was trying to free him from his musty trap. Oh. Once again he found himself contemplating the other’s identity as he allowed his taut, wiry muscles to unwind and his tail to flick, still apprehensive. His ears twitched when the voice spoke again.
"Tobias! I'm so sorry, mate!" it said, sounding heavily apologetic. “Scorn and 'ay have been havin' tons of trouble wit' rogues lately, I thought ye might have been anoth'a one of 'em tryin' to overtake th'barn." A chocolate brown paw passed by his face, bringing back a tide of memories. Blinking in confusion, the silver rogue hauled himself out of the hay and gave his short pelt a quick shake, freeing it from most of the dust encasing it. "I'm so terribly sorry, Tobias. Are ye hungry? Need a place t'stay? You're always welcome t'stay 'ere with us, you know."
Blinking one last time, the rogue, Tobias, swung his head around to face the source of the voice, eyes narrowing defensively. He was met by a brown, rounded face and large slate gray eyes, the color of storm clouds before a great rain. The other tom’s face was scrunched up in a cringe, and despite his discomfort, Tobias could sense the guilt in his gaze. But who is he? A name pricked at the back of his mind; and yes, he had met this tom before. But why the blazes can’t I remember?
There was movement to his right, and without batting an eye he whipped around, fur bristling in preparation to flee. But it was not needed, a calico queen leaped down gracefully from atop one of the hay bales and made her way slowly towards him. ”Tobias?” she moved. He suppressed another startled hiss as she drew closer and even more so when she gently prodded at him with one paw. ”Tobias, you need to tell us if you’re alright.”
”I-I’m fine!” he replied brusquely, her soothing scent momentarily overwhelming his senses. He drew away from her abruptly and began to wash himself self consciously, only to begin cough because of the dust. Smooth, Tobias his mind reflected dryly. He looked at the brown tom, ears flattening. ”I’m fine…” he repeated more slowly. ”And the mice are all yours. I’m not hungry.” Liar. ”And I won’t hang around long, don’t worry.”
He straightened, still fighting to remember who these two cats were. To mask this, he asked a question of his own. “Rogues? Were you attacked?" Once again he felt a rush of shame that he was lumped into the same group as those idiots, ephasized by his bowed head and slumped shoulders.
Wonderful.

There was nobody on earth that Wildtalon knew to be like Tobias. It had to be him, there simply was no alternative. No cat could match his appearance, his smell, or his voice. Though, this cat didn't seem to recognize them... eyes wild and frightened, it was almost as if he had never met them to begin with, or they him. It wasn't like Tobias to turn coward, if Wildtalon knew anything about him at all... anything he'd learned since they'd met. Of all the adventures and stories he'd told, they sounded courageous, but this cat here was lilly-livered. Tobias? Scorn meowed tenderly, prodding him gently in the side. Somehow, watching the silver colored Rogue, Wildtalon was instantly aware of his rigid position. So... had his theories, his doubts been correct? Was this the wrong cat, or had he just been scared mindless? More regret crammed about the inside of Wildtalon at the possibility of the second option.
Tobias, you need to tell us if you're alright. He hoped he was, he'd only attacked him because he thought he might be another one of those evil scoundrels; veiled by the hay, for all the chocolate loner knew, he could have been a rat. They were almost equally dangerous, spreading lethal infection with the sting of their bites.
Soft baby blue eyes flickered to the calico she-cat, the emotion reflecting there his true condolences. She probably understood, but he wanted to make sure Tobias knew as well, that he hadn't intentionally meant to cause his friend harm... he would never. It was so unlike him, even for true enemies. Tobias responded nervously, I-I’m fine! It hurt to have the feeling that he'd been forgotten; he didn't know, but his heart throbbed, and there was that little voice whispering into the back of his mind all of the odds. And the mice are all yours. I’m not hungry. And I won’t hang around long, don’t worry.
What? He was kidding... he didn't want to stay for dinner with them? Wildtalon was hoping for a story, or anything, really. It'd been a long time since he'd seen Tobias. "It's no bother t'us, Tobias. Don't ye r'member us, mate? It's me, Wildtalon, and me mate, Scorn," he swept his tail in her direction; his expression was disappointed, but other than that the warmth hadn't left his cheeks or his mellow gaze.
Hurry up and remember.

"I'm fine, and the mice are all yours. I'm not hungry. And I won't hang around long, don't worry." Tobias meowed, almost cooly, as though he didn't remember them. Did he? As Scorn gazed into his face, blank and emotionless, she couldn't be sure.
A moment later, however, the skinny tom gave a start and exclaimed, "Rogues? Were you attacked?" he shrank back, spine bending sadly, as he spoke the words, and his eyes flashed sadly at the calico she-cat. She felt her heart go out to the weary tom, her mind going haywire as she felt her chest beating painfully. He didn't know. He didn't know anything that had happened.
"We're alright now,"
she lied, her eyes flickering away from his, as her shoulder throbbed. "They didn't try to hurt us," Not everyone is bad, Tobias. Not every rogue has to be a rogue. She stared at him, hoping to let him see, somehow, that she didn't think of him that way, that she liked him, wasn't scared. That it would be okay. "It's no bother t'us, Tobias. Don't ye r'member us, mate? It's me, Wildtalon, and me mate, Scorn," the chocolate tom meowed suddenly his bright blue eyes hiding emotions that swirled deep in their depths. Scorn gazed at him sadly. It was hard, seeing him hurt that way. She couldn't heal his wounds or shelter him from the winds. This was a different kind of pain, one that only heals with time. The pain and sadness that came with losing a friend. And this was, almost, the same thing. But not quite. Tobias still hadn't responded, staring curiously at the two of them. Was it possible, that he did remember? Anything? "Tobias - " she whispered, her breath rippling across the dusty air to reach the tom, standing stock-still in the shadows. " - do you remember?" Tags: Wildtalon and Tobias Charrie: Scorn Words: four thirty two Color: green yellow[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Tobias shuffled his paws nervously, eyes flicking between the big brown tom and the calico she-cat as they both passed him mild looks of surprise. Had he said something wrong? A few moments slipped by before the tom spoke up again, his deep voice slow and purposeful. “It’s no bother t’us, Tobias,” he mewed reassuringly. “Don’t ye r’member us, mate? It’s me, Wildtalon, and me mate, Scorn.” He flicked his tail at the pretty female, who was still regarding him with her gentle gaze. In response, Tobias only felt paranoid and suspicious.
Remember them? No, he didn’t remember them; not their faces, their scents, their voices, nothing. He nearly groaned aloud, but upon further thought realized that their names, unique in their own right, sounded oddly familiar, and with that memory came some semblance of trust, a breeze blowing in from the past. At some point in time, he had felt comfortable with these cats. His fur flattened instantly at the thought, and his eyes brightened slightly. Maybe his luck wasn’t as bad as he had thought; but his memory sure needed some work. The brown tom was regarding him with a look of disappointment now, his brow crinkled slightly as he stared at the silver rogue. In return Tobias felt a stab of guilt and shame. He didn’t like to make others feel bad, despite what some cats might think of him.
Then the she-cat, Scorn, spoke; her voice as smooth and gentle as her mate’s. “We’re alright now,” she told him, and Tobias guessed she was speaking about the attack he had asked about. “They didn’t try to hurt us.” Though Tobias highly doubted that, he let it slide. Now was not the time to go poking around another cat’s brain. They had been nicer to him than most cats already, and he didn’t want to ruin that. He glanced at her briefly from where his own gaze had probably burned a hole in the far wall. Upon looking into her green eyes, he got the feeling that she was trying to convey something, leaving his pelt to prickle when he looked away. “Tobias,” she then said abruptly. “Do you remember?”
Oh, this will be great.
“Uh,” he said awkwardly, his tail tip flicking rapidly behind him. “Well… uh, no. B-But I do recognize your names!” He added announcement quickly, as if it would make completely forgetting them all better. At last he looked at them, the misery in his eyes returning. “I’m sorry,” he mewed quietly. “I’m not really good at remembering, you know, certain things.” Or much else for that matter. "But, ah, how are you now?” He offered them a pitiful smile.

Tobias stared at the calico she-cat. Scorn bit her lip, trying not to scream in frustration. This was her friend, and he didn't even know her. She dug her claws into the ground, and a moment later, retracted them, trying not to make him feel uncomfortable. Tobias was indeed looking at the pair of them in a strange way, his eyes wide, but his brow crinkled, as though he was ... remembering?
Scorn's breath quickened as she looked at the tom, urgency rising up within her. Why she wanted him to remember them so desperately was a mystery to her, but he was important to Wildtalon, so he was important to her.
The look faded all too soon. The skinny tom glanced at Wildtalon before looking back at her, and Scorn's heart sank. "uh, well ... uh, no. b-but i do recognize your names!" he meowed hesitantly, voice rising excitedly as he stated this fact. As though it would make up for everything. And at least it was a start.
He knew it was no use. Tobias's gaze sank as he looked between them, so sad against the drooping hay, shady in the fading sunlight. "i'm sorry. i'm not really good at remembering, you know, certain things. but, ah, how are you now?"
With one final look, Scorn knew it was time to start over. They would just have to see past the fact that this tom knew nothing about them. "well, we're just fine with wandering around, seeing sights,"
she meowed, with a fond glance at Wildtalon. Her chocolate brown warrior. Her love and her soul. Her everything. "what about you?" she meowed politely, settling down, her tail tucking neatly over her small white paws. They had all the time in the world. And it looked like they would be needing every minute of it. He himself tried to recall memories with the friendly rogue; of their run in at the marsh, of their pleasant conversation here at the barn (while dining on fat mice). The chocolate tom found that, they really only had a couple memoirs to reflect on, and it was only those times they had met, that they really knew each other from. Wildtalon blinked warmly, a smile of abrupt awareness plastering itself upon his auburn maw. He could see where Tobias would forget almost completely; he came from another-where, and so, his time at the forest was familiar, but the exact description of his experience here had been lost along the threads of his mind. The loner winked at his mate, and nodded to her words as she spoke; his eyes then averted to the oriental. One ear flicked backwards ever so slightly. Uh, well… uh, no. B-But I do recognize your names! Tobias rapidly uttered, and Wildtalon let out a throaty laugh; he sympathized with the tom, but seeing his old friend again did his heart good. Even if he had, well, forgotten them in turn.
I’m sorry, I’m not really good at remembering, you know, certain things. But, ah, how are you now? Still chuckling quietly to himself, Wildtalon slipped beside Scorn and nudged her gently with a muscular shoulder. He didn't want to bring up the many sightings of rogues he'd seen, and he wasn't exactly sure if Scorn had caught them either... he figured, a reunion like this was best to be kept positive. If they knew just how many he was smelling throughout his copse strolls, it might alarm them. Especially Tobias, and in all honesty, he seemed a bit on the terror side as was. I'll tell them later. Soft, slate blue eyes gleamed cordially at the rogue's question, and just as he was about to speak, the calico beat him to it. well, we're just fine with wandering around, seeing sights, what about you? Her green eyes strayed towards him, and he winked at her.
And all the while after that, he was silent.
