--------------------------------------- My heart booms at the speed of light Think things have gotten too attached I need an escape --------------------------------------- Her entire cover and idea was blown out of proportion. "What's all this nonsense you're talking about?" Lefty's eyes rolled and she opened her mouth to reply, but he had interjected again. "What she-cat changed your life?"
“Coldfire, you should know this cat well, or at least I'd assume so.” Lefty said with a sly tone, thingying her head to one side, letting her eyes speak. “Her name, Midnight.” Lefty gave a smile that reached her eyes. “At least that is what I call her, you might call her something else.” She still sat on the muddy ground and looked at the waving pieces grass, that she could hardly see over. The grass in front of her tickled her nose. Lefty swatted it away.
"If there's a meeting place, it doesn't sound like somewhere I want to be. That sounds like something for evil cats to lecture and preach some bad ideas." She was taken back and you could see it. Her jaw dropped open and her eyes widened with shock. After a few moments of listening to the crickets sing, and the wind rush past her ears and tangle her fur she turned her head to look at the pest that stood near her.
“We are not evil, nor am I going to stand this!” Lefty stood up with rage running throughout her veins. “You think that I am an evil cat, don't you? Well you are wrong. I stand for what I believe in and that is certainly not what you disgusting Clan cats do. You do as your pretty little leader says. So show me that I am wrong. Come with me and defy your weak and pathetic Clan!” She hissed. Lefty's heart was beating in her ear and her eyes narrowed and Lefty was ready to attack.

I'm so far gone now I've been running on empty I'm so far gone now, do you wanna take me on?
“Coldfire, you should know this cat well, or at least I'd assume so.” What was she talking about? Was he supposed to read her mind? But then the sarcastic she-cat spoke again. “Her name, Midnight.” A sadistic smile crept onto her the loner's face. “At least that is what I call her, you might call her something else.” Midnight? That name was familiar, in a way...Oh! She must be talking about Midnighthowl...But how did she know the ShadowClan cat? "What are you talking about? Midnighthowl is a ShadowClan cat. She's a creep, but she's still a clan cat." Coldfire replied, a sneer gliding onto his face. After his comment about the meeting place, Lefty exploded. This was what he expected; a fierce sense-less cat. From her reaction and the way her eyes widened, he knew something had drastically changed. His clan cat instincts kicked in, and he put most of his energy into his back legs. “We are not evil, nor am I going to stand this! You think that I am an evil cat, don't you? Well you are wrong. I stand for what I believe in and that is certainly not what you disgusting Clan cats do. You do as your pretty little leader says. So show me that I am wrong. Come with me and defy your weak and pathetic Clan!” Lefty said all of this with a hiss. Someone was a little mad, eh? Coldfire merely flicked his tail, as if to wipe away what the little she-cat had said. He never said he was a good listener; he was more of an action type of guy. Don't follow the rules, just go with it. But after Lefty had finished speaking, Coldfire sensed a sort of crackle in the air. Glancing at Lefty he saw her eyes turn into slits; he knew that look. He knew it very well. It was common in battles. In a mere second, Coldfire was on his feet and into the air. It was something he was good at, being ready when it cametime for battling. Oh he wouldn't hurt the little she-cat badly, just enough to keep her mouth shut about things she knew nothing about. Perhaps he was at a weird point in his life where being in the clan didn't fully satisfy him. But no one could put down his origin, his life. He knew Lefty could fight, but he'd have the first attack. The power in his back legs made for a strong leap, and he landed with his claws in Lefty's back. He had come from the side so his larger body overpowered hers. With his strength, he bowled her over, his claws still sunk in her side. "Show me what you got, kitty cat. And if you're smart, you won't put my way of life down again. You follow a leader don't you? Different ideas, i'm sure, but you still don't think for yourself Lefty. You're just like me. Doesn't that just kill you?" Coldfire laughed; just the thing to piss her off even more.

--------------------------------------- My heart booms at the speed of light Think things have gotten too attached I need an escape --------------------------------------- Lefty saw that he was ready to fight as she was, but she didn’t know what was about to hit her and hit her hard at that. She fell to her side with a thud. Coldfire had let his claws sink into her, it burned. ."Show me what you got, kitty cat. And if you're smart, you won't put my way of life down again. You follow a leader don't you? Different ideas, I’m sure, but you still don't think for yourself Lefty. You're just like me. Doesn't that just kill you?” With a kick in to his face, she wiggled free. Hoping that had given her time to compose herself.
“I do what I want when I want. You don’t see me hunting for a Clan, but for myself. See the difference?” LShe stayed low to the ground, trying to figure out the best way to attack. He was a good size larger then she was; he could easily knock her off. So she wouldn’t jump on top of him, unless she knew she could do some terrible damage. At this point she couldn’t do a thing. He was almost blinding her, with something that she couldn’t figure out. Without thought she sprang at him. With claws extended she clung to his back. Then she bit down hard on his neck, hoping to send him yelping back to his beloved Clan. Lefty wasn't going to let go of the young tom even if it cost her life.

I think you can make me, girl Could make me and take my life.
Coldfire snorted. Her strong paw had hit him right in the face, in the forehead. It felt as if the kick had knocked his brain around and he could feel it rattling. Once his eyes re-focused, he made contact with his green eyes to her blue ones. This was exhilerating; it felt different than any other battle he had fought. For one thing...He didn't want to really hurt her. He would actually feel bad if he caused her some lasting damage. What was happening to him? Coldfire scoffed at his own softness, just like some pampered kittypet. They wouldn't hurt a fly. “I do what I want when I want. You don’t see me hunting for a Clan, but for myself. See the difference?” Soon after, Lefty lunged for his back. A little too late he realized what she was going to do, maybe because of what she said. What was it that made Coldfire react so differently to her? Her blue eyes made him both anxious, and calm; two things that definetly didn't go together. He suddenly felt the sharp claws pierce into his back. A fire that erupted in his neck told him that Lefty had found her mark, with her teeth. Oh so this was the game she was playing at? The pain seared through him; but he wouldn't move. He stood there, with the blood dripping from the wounds in his back and neck. "You really want to hurt me don't you Lefty?" Coldfire's voice was smooth, calm. But it had a cold edge to it, like he said, he was both fire and ice. Now he chose ice since the fire had subsided. He thought about his next move; but he came up with none. He could easily crush her; his body weight alone would knock the breath out of her. And that was only if he let her up afterwards. Flip onto his back, or go on his hindlegs into a tree...That would surely do the trick. But he didn't want to. Unlike all the other battles he had fought, this one felt wrong. But he wanted to teach her a lesson still. If he knew one thing, it was that he would defend his honor until the end. "Tell me Lefty. What's your motivation? What makes your heart beat? What's the fire in your soul? You have no one to go to every day. Your sacred Midnight? Surely not. You have no one to reassure you that you're alive." Coldfire said, his own heart seemed to drop into his stomach as he said this. He had no one himself to go to at night, no one to tell him that "everything's going to be okay." Was he a hypocrite for saying these things to Lefty? No. I'm different..I have to be. "Make a choice Lefty. Continue to keep your claws torn into my back, or let go." Coldfire hissed, his voice menacing but very persuading. Or so he hoped.

What's your motivation? What makes your heart beat? What's the fire in your soul? You have no one to go to every day. Your sacred Midnight? Surely not. You have no one to reassure you that you're alive." Lefty entire body became tense at each and every one of his words. Coldfire’s words sent shivers down her back. She had no one, and the Midnight and the rest of the cats had become her family. Although they were ruthless and monsters, they were he family none the less. What made her tick? What made her fight for midnight anyway, was it the shear enjoyment of watching the clans fall into disperse? Well she needed to figure it out, whatever it was.
“Why should I stop? To let you yell at me, or maybe even to let you have the upper hand?” She paused for dramatic effect. “No, no I don’t think so. Not until you give me a good reason.” Lefty hissed pushing her claws deeper into his skin wanting it to hurt. Her mouth tasted of blood, she crinkled her nose in disgust. The question that he had asked before that she attempted to ignore ran through her head. "You really want to hurt me don't you Lefty?" She wasn’t sure if she really wanted to hurt him Granted him was making her angry and sending a fire through her body. Now that fire felt good, it was a sensation that she had never felt before.

I know you can break me, girl. Take all of me. Coldfire could tell that his words impacted the stubborn loner. It was as if she was running, with no intended destination. He always wondered how loners could exist; how anyone could just be without anyone else in their lives. That was what their names meant afterall; that they would be alone, always. But what was he? He was just as bad, perhaps worse, than a loner. What with being in solitude most of the time. Maybe that was why his eyes had grown darker; there was no spark of life to light them up. A sharp hiss and more pain brought him back into focus. Lefty. “Why should I stop? To let you yell at me, or maybe even to let you have the upper hand?" A pause. “No, no I don’t think so. Not until you give me a good reason.” Coldfire considered this for a moment. This cat surely wasn't so dense to think that he was going to do her much harm? The upper hand, I mean really? She really had no idea who he was...And he had no idea he was either. "Well. Aren't you stubborn. Lefty, look. I came out here to get some peace, do a little hunting, and to simply just relax. And then...Then I meet this gorgeous cat who is just so, obnoxious. But I can't help but listen to her and think she's clever. So you tell me. Why won't you just let go?" Coldfire mewed, his voice dropping deeper as he said the last few lines. What had gotten into him? It was like this whole new cat had dived into his body, nudging his natural reactions aside. Any other cat who had acted like this, he would have destroyed. No thought, no 'buts.' They would have been on their back, begging for mercy. But maybe he wasn't even that cat anymore? He scoffed. This Lefty; she just had a way of bringing out the worst in him...Or was it the better side? With a grimace, he felt more blood dripping down his sides. As much as he hated to admit it, he wouldn't tell her of course, but he was in a lot of pain. It was as if metal nails had pierced his sides, being hit in with a hammer. The new wave of pain brought fresh anger. He felt like a rollercoaster of emotions, each one bringing a sickening plummet to his stomach. "Please don't make me angry Lefty. Please." He might have been 'begging,' but it was more for her than it was for him. He had a way of letting his emotions take control of him, and if any more pain and madness was going to occur; she needed to stop. He really didn't want to hurt her, but he was like the Hulk. Once it started, it didn't subside for a while. But maybe I can control it around her...Yeah...In what world buddy? Two voices raged inside his head. What was happening to him?

--------------------------------------- My heart booms at the speed of light Think things have gotten too attached I need an escape --------------------------------------- Lefty’s heart stopped. It fell down to her stomach. She wanted to move, but couldn’t. "Well. Aren't you stubborn? Lefty, look. I came out here to get some peace, do a little hunting, and to simply just relax. And then...Then I meet this gorgeous cat who is just so, obnoxious. But I can't help but listen to her and think she's clever. So you tell me. Why won't you just let go?" His words hit a nerve. No one had ever said meaningful words like Coldfire had. Lefty wanted to believe him, she wanted to believe every word that came out of his mouth. It was hard, Lefty had never trusted or wanted to trust a Clan cat or a cat more than she did right now. She could feel his blood roll over her claws, she shivered. "Please don't make me angry Lefty. Please."
“Okay,” Lefty said pulling her claws out and falling to the ground with a thud, “You really think that?” her words became slow and shaky. For once in her life, someone she felt she could trust, but she had to let herself trust him. Her head was spinning, pounding and reeling. Lefty closed her eyes before looking down at her paws. She looked up at him from where she still sat. Her claws drapped with his blood and her mouth still tasted of blood.
Lefty looked at where she had lodged her claws, red ribbons rolled down his side still. Had she really hurt him that bad, is that what she did to all of her other victims? Lefty looked down at her claws in awe and pain. Is this who she had become?

All of me. Take my heart. Take my soul. Just please don't break me. The atmosphere had changed. The air felt tense. It was as if a storm was about to rip apart the sky. Coldfire felt Lefty's claws tug out of his skin. Was it possible for that to hurt more than before? Because it felt like fire; maybe like shaking a bottle of champagne, and once the cork was removed it spews everywhere. Yes, that was a good comparison because the pain erupted after she retreated her claws. Maybe part of that was the thought of him practically begging her. But what else could he have done? "Okay...You really think that?" He heard Lefty's words faintly as she layed down on the ground loudly. He wanted to answer, but he suddenly felt very woozy; dizzy. He walked a couple of steps away from her, then collapsed onto the soft marshy plants. He was still concious, but his head was foggy and his eyes had started to blur. Had he really lost that much blood? What would the clan say? He looked as if he had dived into a pit of thorns. He took a deep breath and concentrated on what he would say next. "Yes Lefty. I do. I'm not a liar and I don't just say things to make people feel better. I say what's on my mind." Coldfire replied; his voice seemed forced, like he barely had enough air to push the words out of his throat. With a sigh, he tried to turn his neck to lap at the claw-deep wounds. But he had forgotten about the bite to his neck, until hot pain flooded through him again. With a hiss he whipped his head back around and settled it onto his paws, looking straight forward. Coldfire could hear Lefty's breathing a little ways behind him. Would she just leave him? Whatever. She can do what she wants. I must be stupid to think this loner would be any different from the rest. Even if she left, he would be alright. In the physical way at least; all he needed was a little rest, and to clean up. The clan couldn't see him like this. Too bad he had no idea what herbs he could use for his wounds, he couldn't just waltz up the the ShadowClan medicine cat and say "Herbs please. I've just been attacked by a loner and I let her do this to me because I didn't want to hurt her, even though she was intruding on our land." Yeah, that would sound great." Why did he get himself into this mess? He should have known better. I'm like a stupid apprentice. Naive; Blissfully unaware." Why couldn't anything ever just go...right?"

--------------------------------------- My heart booms at the speed of light Think things have gotten too attached I need an escape --------------------------------------- Lefty looked over at him. He never lied? Well she had to let herself trust him. Lefty pushed herself up off the muddy ground and walked over to him. “Sorry about the bite....” She whispered before laying down beside him and began to lick the bloody out of his fur. Lefty's eyes wandered up to look at his neck. It wasn't was bad as she thought, but it was bad regardless. Her heart pounded in her ears she had done this. She hurt a cat that was willing to let her be, but she couldn't let him be. Her thoughts and feeling were beginning to jumble around and make her head spin.
Lefty stopped licking his fur and put her head between her paws, trying not to breath in the scent of his fur or the smell of fresh blood. Coldfire was the first cat that she didn't want to kill or see get hurt. He was the only exception, he gave her a new kind of fuzzy feeling. This feeling was warmer and had true meaning, not like the empty one the always filled her heart. Her paws smelt of blood, her nose crinkled in disgust and she opened her eyes looked up and began to lick her paws. After a few moments she pressed her head into his side and let her tail rest over his flank. “I'm sorry and I know you think I am nothing but a...” She didn't continue, she just stood up looked down at him debating if she should just run now or stay.

All of me. Take my heart. Take my soul. Just please don't break me. The atmosphere had changed. The air felt tense. It was as if a storm was about to rip apart the sky. What was it that made a storm so terrifying, but so beautiful? It was the anxiety, the nerve-racking thunder and the eye-dazzling lightning. "Sorry about the bite...." Sorry? That seemed a little ironic at the moment. After severe pain and lots of blood shed, a little sorry seemed un-effective. But after the short statement, the she-cat padded over and lay down beside him. Her warm body comforted his suddenly chilly one. A different sort of plummet hit the bottom of his belly...What was that feeling? He flicked it away with a wave of his tail. It was nothing. Right? Coldfire felt the roughness of Lefty's tongue on his back. He closed his eyes calmly; he couldn't remember that feeling. He had not shared tongues with any of his clanmates before...But he knew this was different. With Lefty being there and comforting him, (even though she had done the damage) he felt...content. The pain seemed to disappear, along with the anger he had been feeling. Could it be? It was as if she was the ying to his yang; the white to his black; the water to his flame. She could calm him. A smile started to creep onto his face, not too noticeable, but he knew it was there. He felt her face press into his side and her soft tail drape over his shoulders. It was so comforting, so relaxing, so...loving. And she smelled so beautiful. Coldfire didn't know of a cat able to smell pretty; that was new for him. But so was everything that had happened in the past hour... "I'm sorry and I know you think I am nothing but a..." The sentence was stoped mid-way. The warm fur was gone, replaced with a chill breeze. The pain seared back into his body. What had happened? He turned his neck, which still hurt but he surged through the pain, to look at Lefty. Her eyes looked so sad...Why? He hadn't done anything...He had...Well him not reacting to her comforting touch mihgt have done something. But he was just so tired..He could barely think, let alone react. "What? Lefty..." Coldfire staggered to his feet. He didn't think. He had no words to say to her. So he just reacted. He pushed his face against the side of hers, her whiskers tickling his face. His nose was pressed into her fur; it was soothing and made his pain fade away again. What was it about this cat? "Oh. Lefty. I think you're more than just a loner..." Coldfire whispered into her ear. "I mean, you think I'm just a ShadowClan cat..."

--------------------------------------- My heart booms at the speed of light Think things have gotten too attached I need an escape --------------------------------------- Lefty saw Coldfire stumble to his feet. She was telling her feet to move, run away but her heart willed her to stay. She could feel the beat of his uneven paw steps on the ground. "Oh. Lefty. I think you're more than just a loner..." She could feel his warm, sweet breath on her neck. "I mean, you think I'm just a ShadowClan cat..." She felt her legs collapse beneath her. She felt something towards him that she hadn’t felt in many moons, compassion and love. “I…I can’t,” She muttered her heart pounding, “I can’t lose someone again.” She had now dropped her voice to a whisper. The memories raced back at a breath taking pace. She felt the warmness of her mother leave her and her brothers. The cool winds that killed her brothers danced in front of her and the day she swore that she would never love anyone came to mind and the emotions that she kept bottled up began to seep into the night. Lefty began to shake and the memories took over. Her fierce blue eyes snapped shut and every lonely day past by her. Each and every moment of her short life flashed before her until she reached rock bottom. Her heart was pounding and she could hardly hear anything but her own thoughts. There where jumbled voices and sounds coming from all directions. Her paws felt heavy, and her head felt like it was drifting up into the sky. Everything was a little over-whelming, after a moment all of the noise stopped. She felt something pushed her sides and her heart began to slow to a normal rate.

Wake up, my love. Never thought you'd make me, break me.
Oh you're trying so hard, but I know the ending already. "I...I can't." What...? "I can't lose someone again." Ah. He could understand that feeling. Snowberry, Stormpelt... He had been hurt so many times by other she-cats. Yet he still wanted to try again with Lefty. It just felt different this time. Things were much more complicated, with the fact that he was a ShadowClan cat and she was a loner. The two things just didn't go together. And she was saying she couldn't? What had happened to her to make her say that? Suddenly Lefty had begun to shake. What was wrong with her? Coldfire wasn't sure to go towards her or what he should do. Her eyes had shut and it seemed like she was somewhere else, not here with him in the marsh. With that thought, Coldfire sighed. Who would want to be here with him anyways? It was a damp, dark place, and he was the same way. When was the last time light had danced upon his face; when he could look up the the star-filled sky and say, thank you. He couldn't even remember such a time... After a while of Coldfire standing awkwardly there while Lefty was upset, she finally calmed down. Coldfire sighed with relief; he wasn't very good with comforting other cats, he wasn't even happy himself! "Look Lefty. I get it. You don't want anything to do with me. Sorry I bothered you and wasted your time." Coldfire scoffed, suddenly mad. This whole time together in the marsh, which felt like days, simply made no sense to him. He had wished something new and diferent would happen to him today, and he guessed this was it. But now it was done; he would go back to clan and focus on becoming a better warrior. He would forget about this... loner. A twinge of guilt rushed through him when he thought that. He had thought of her as more...But why? They had only known each other for a few hours. I just don't know what to do now...I tried. It didn't work. This isn't me. Thoughts rushed through his head like a camera on review. Who was he to pretend to be some charming handsome tomcat? He was just, Coldfire. Cold as ice, and hot as a flame. Shaking his head, he started to turn away. "Pathetic," he said under his breath. He was talking about himself of course, he was being ignorant. Besides, a loner and a ShadowClan warrior would never work out! It was against the code, and that was one thing he stuck to. He didn't have much else to pride himself on. "Goodbye Lefty..." Coldfire mewed quietly, turning his head back to look at her. She really was beautiful; she reminded him of everything he liked. Autumn leaves, snowy mornings, thunderstorms, and crystal clear water. She was such a fiery combination, it was almost blinding to witness. So he wouldn't. He would just walk away. She can't do it, remember? Coldfire repeated this to himself as he started to slowly walk away. His feet felt like lead; he didn't want to leave, but he felt it was necessary. Besides, he wasn't one for begging. He was too proud for that. His small steps barely took him away from Lefty. Snail-like much? Get a move on. She did say she couldn't do it; he would just leave before he had time to disappoint her... The pain had returned to his limbs.
