In Pain

Hawkpaw repeated Shadowsong's words in his head, trying to memorize what poppyseeds were for. He shuffled his paws, a little nervou.s He had no idea what his next patient eould be like. He had to prepare for the worst injuries. Even ones that would bring back memories of his injury. Hawkpaw wondered what was the matter with Purplestripe. He felt a little weird, not knowing a lot about being a Medicine Cat. But he kinew that was okay because he had only been training for a few minutes.

Purplestripe shocked of what Shadwosng said decide to tell. "I keep feeeling pains in my belly. I think it's the kits. You don't have get mad gosh and you don't have to be rude about Sniperblade. He was loyal and I am still loyal to the clan."She mewed. She didn't liked to be treated like she wasn't part of the clan.

ShadowSong blinked in slight surprise.

"I don't remember ever saying anything or even implying anything of Sniperblade... Or your own loyalty to the clan." she mewed calmly. Th warrior... or rather, Queen, was becoming rather snippy. She frowned. Her tone when speaking previously had been more in attempt to get the she-cat to be more open and less ... well, grumbling silently in unintelligable mews, if any were supposed to be heard at all, she wondered. Now, not offering any information to the cat that was expected to help you was rude, but nothing against loyalty. The medicine cat let her figure, which she just realized was uncomfortably tense, relax. The kits and the pain coming with them were interfereing with Purplestripe's personality. So she assumed of course.
Maybe Purplestripe was just touchy. She hadn't known the queen for very long.

"Purplestripe is having kits," she mewed to Hawkpaw who sat curiously behind the she-cat. "They affect many of your senses, and also make you more irritable. This is a good example." She sent a stare to Purplestirpe, which she knew was not the smartest of moves. The queen was definately irritable... and she was having second thoughts of wanting her own kits again.
"Now, for you Purplestripe-- the pain is natural. It'll go away a short while after their birth. As for now, just eat the poppyseeds. If I give you anything else it might affect the kits," she added, looking to Hawkpaw to be sure he caught that. There were some things you could use still (the Windshoots she had recently collected ofr example) but she preferred to use if pain came to early, or if it was drastic. She took another glance at Purplestripe to note that the queen might in fact fall under that category, but ignored that mental message as best she could.
"ANd she'll be having them soon, I'd expect. Have you been staying in the Nursery?"

Hawkpaw nodded. He wondered how painful it was to have kits. Of course he would never find out, but that could be a good thing. He probably would never get a chance to be a father if he was a medicine cat, but he knew that he couldn't bear to lose another mate or friend. He was okay with the fact that he would never would have a mate. Then he heard Shadowsong say that anything other than poppyseeds could affect the kits. He made a note of that.

((Hehe Sorry I had school and we don't get out until 2pm Mountain time and it takes a half hour to walk home))

"No I didn't think it was needed until a another moon or so."Purplestripe mewed about if she was staying in the nursery. I must be hearing things if Shadowsong didn't say anything about loyality or Sniperblade. she thought.

Ivypaw entered the den out of curiosity. She wondered to herself what had happened. "Are you alright?"

Hawkpaw turned and saw Ivypaw enter the den. "Hi Ivypaw." He said. He wondered if he should tell her about Purplestripe. He didn't just want to blurt it out so he waited to see if Purplestripe wanted to tell her.

Ivypaw turned to face Hawkpaw. "Hello." she replied. Ivypaw stood staring behind Hawkpaw trying to get a good look at Purplestripe. "Is it bad?" she asked quietly.

"Is what bad?"Purplestripe asked Ivypaw. She watched the two apprentices wondering why Ivypaw was here.

"Ivypaw, what are you doing here?" ShadowSong mewed, curious and harsh at the same time. Sighing in an irritated manner by the apprentice's brief interruption, she turned to Purplestripe.
"Yes, you should probably be staying there-- and for a while now too, if you've started to hurt. Come to me sooner next time," she mewed in reply, although hoping there wouldn't be a next time with all her heart. But other cats would still be coming eventually, she noted to herself. If they didn't their clan would die out. She sighed again, heavier and with regret.

Her thoughts interrupted by Purplestripe, she too turned to face the younger of the four currently in the den, eyeing them carefully.

Purplestripe stared at the apprentices wondering why Ivypaw was here in the first place. She looked at Shadowsong when she spoke but kept looking at the apprentices.

[ivy]

Ivypaw looked back at Purplestripe and Shadowsong without answering either of their questions.

"I-I was just w-wondering why everyone was in here. That's all." she stammered hoping she wasn't in any type of trouble. "Sorry." she said slowly forgetting why she was there in the first place. "I don't know why I was here, I think I'll be going now."

Quickly she padded out of the den and loooked back curiously wondering if they were still looking at her. She was glad to have left, she wanted to start training with Bronzeheart.

Hawkpaw looked after her as she left. He sighed, wondering if he could've made friends with her. He wondered where Frostpaw and Birchpaw were. He hadn't talked to them in a very long time. He looked at Purplestripe and Shadowsong, wondering what would happen next.
