Ebonyheart padded over to the edge of the marsh. Bored, she flicked her tail back and forth. Watching the birds go by, Ebonyheart wished she could go anywhere she wanted. She wanted to go to a gathering, or something. Restless... Ebonyheart thought. That's what I am. She waited for Nightcloud to return from the gathering, or one of her other friends to show up.

Batpaw approached another warrior in her clan cautiously. "Hello, Ebonyheart," she greeted, nodding her head towards towards the black warrior. Her tail twitched anxiously, as if it knew that something was going to happen. I haven't seen anyone for ages, they're all at the Gathering probably she thought, with a tinge of anger that she hadn't been sent. Oh well, I'm probably not good enough she wondered wryly.

Ebonyheart was having the same thoughts. "Hello," she meowed, jerking out of her tangent. "You aren't at the gathering? I wish I could go." Flicking her tail in response to the apprentice's nod, Ebony indicated the she-cat to sit closer.

Batpaw edged closer to the warrior, taking in her words. "Yeah, it'd be sweet to go to the Gathering. I wonder what it'd be like, especially after the clan battles," she meowed, dreaming up conversations. "I do hope it goes well. Icestorm must be under a lot of pressure ever since Blazingstar died," she gulped, biting back tears.

Ebonyheart blinked back her own tears, and looked away for a moment. Getting control, she looked back and replied, "I can imagine. I would never want to be leader. I suppose she might have wanted to take senior warriors and apprentices." Ebonyheart let the matter go. "They should be back soon anyway... So..."

Batpaw nodded, deciding to drop the subject of Blazingstar. "Have you ever wished to become Deputy of our clan?" she asked. Obviously she could not, for she was still an apprentice with no mentor. "I wonder what it would be like. Probably really stressful though," she meowed.

Ebonyheart "I really wouldn't like it. Too much responsibility. I'd prefer being a warrior who can run out and hunt or talk to other cats and relax when I want." Tilting her head thoughtfully and flicking her tail slightly, Ebonyheart glanced back at the smaller cat. "Plus, I doubt I'm patient enough to be able to deal with it. My personality isn't very... I don't know. You seem like you'd be a good leader...ish cat when you were done training. Just your temperment, I mean." (Wow! Long post, and all dialogue!)

{lol}
Batpaw looked at Ebonyheart. "Nah, I think I wouldn't be a good Leader, though I think it'd be cool to. You can call the clan your family, and you can do more for it," she meowed. "And Deputies don't have to be patient. Look at Tawnyclaw for instance. She killed a cat from our own clan who had turned over to Riverclan. I don't blame her or anything, but she's Deputy already," she said, remembering when new had come of Angelheart's death.

Ebonyheart Ebonyheart pondered over this new statement, and shrugged. "Oh well..." Looking around for any sight or scent of prey, she stood. (I'm out of ideas for this thread! Writer's Block!)

[ You said it xD] Batpaw ceased her endlessly twitching tail to scent for prey. A few stale scents of mice carried across the breaze, but they were faint. "Do you want to go hunting?" she asked, seeing as they were already scent checking. She was deadly starving, but she loved hunting, even if she wasn't good at it.

"Sure!" Ebonyheart glanced at the apprentice. "Bet I can catch more prey than you can!" Without giving a warning, Ebonyheart dashed off to prove her point, quickly finishing a mouse. In a hurry, Ebonyheart didn't spend any time to glance back and see how much Batpaw had caught.

Batpaw narrowed her eyes in the heat of competetion. "Come back here, you glutton!" she shouted towards the warrior, laughing as she dropped her tone to a muted whisper. A scuffle in the leave made Batpaw drop into a crouching position. It was a vole, without doubt. Pinpointing it by sound, she pounced, crushing it with her claws. Feeling the slight life within the creature, she finished it with a slash of her fangs, feeling the satisfaction of catching the prey. She cuffed dirt over it so she could pick it up later, and continued on hunting.

Ebonyheart tried to get a thrush, but in her haste, she let it get away. Making up for it by catching a two voles, she ran around in circles, scenting the air for prey. "Hah! I think I'm winning!"

Batpaw pounced silently at a mouse, missing. Scowling, she scented a rabbit nearby. She crept up on it and pounced, easily subdueing it with a single swipe. She looked dismayed as she realized Willowstorm had more catch. "It's not over yet!" she giggled, looking at the two mounds of dirt where she had buried her prey.

Ebonyheart kept the three pieces of fresh-kill neatly wrapped in her tail. "You're right! I'll beat you by even more!" Jumping on something that moved, she released it with a huff when she discovered it was a simple worm. Quickly killing a thrush, she yowled triumph as she wrapped her now full tail around the small bird.
