Despite her orange coat, which contrasted immensely within the snow, she was indeed ice, and not just by name, either. A rogue tom slid by, seemingly bitter, but her boldly azure gaze easily read his cowardice. He dared to approach her with a thingyy grin, and he began his own lecture of how she seemed outcasted from everything; her beliefs were well etched upon her exterior, and he dared to speak of how foolish she was. How horrid of a fate she was to have. And he sneered and laughed the entire time - oh, but she could see his idiotic fear under 'tough' act. Feh, it wasn't a very successful act anyway. As he finished, he watched her with a wickedness in his golden eye - but not even his large frame and ruffled red-brown tabby coat could intimidate her. Because he appeared more of a useless and pathetic soul to her. She couldn't help but laugh. Not quite cackle, but just about as darkly as faint laughter could get. She could tell that her amusement shook him, and that, despite his utter failure, he was attempting to remain powerful. Oh, but he never was. Laughing once more, a tad more loudly, she purred coldly, "Leave us be with your blasphemy," the disappointment and dissatisfaction burning a hole in his act, "Those such as you are not worth anyone's time, let alone mine."

[/font] It wasn't that she was conceited.. it was just that she was sick and tired of the mockery and stupidity she had to reside by.

Lashing her tail, she turned from him and left him apalled, perhaps with even a gaping jaw. Then again, she didn't quite care for what state she left morons in.

Padding several yards away and still moving, a voice soon invaded her mind. Her daughter's voice. 'Hardly, there's a different between confidence and arrogance, sweet conscience o' mine.[/font] The voice was faint, but she could very well recognize it. Recognize it as well as its tone, although not quite yet the thoughts surrounding it. What was Midnight up to? Considering their last conversation, it was nothing good.

'You never stay in one place, you know, mommy.' A soft chuckle broke past her lips; a sadness seeped into her gaze. Her daughter had no idea.. And she would never know. Because she brought up a wall between them, and thus, Ice herself built her own barrier. She still loved her daughter, yes. Very much so. But the bitterness and hatred - there was no recovering from that. Her daughter would die the monster she became, and she, she herself would decay as a regretful mother.

But none of those emotions leaked anywhere.

Yes, daughter, I know, the mock gloom stung, but she didn't dare show it, And, alas, neither do you.[/i] Honestly, she wished with all her heart to make up with her daughter, no matter how horrendous she had become. It was her own fault that Midnighthowl became the way she was. Ice was well aware that her loyalty to the old Coterie tore her family apart - and her loyalty to her family tradition descended into tragedy.

A tragedy that would forever live on, even if their lives were cut short.
