Shifteye walked back into the ShadowClan camp. She would let her apprentice enjoy his catch, since it was his first as an apprentice. She and he would most likely go out later in search of more prey as well as patrol the ShadowClan-ThunderClan border. She would catch something then. Once there were more cats in the Clan, she, as the medicine cat, wouldn't have to worry about freshkill.

"Food..." Runepaw almost started to eat, but he stopped only a few inches from it. Where were his manners! "Don't you want any?"

"No, no... I will catch something later, once I take you on border patrol." She looked away, for the rat was tempting. She wanted the apprentice to enjoy what he worked to get.

He nodded, then turned his attention back to the rat. He took one juicy bite and almost had to steady himself. It had been a while now since he had eaten, and now he was glad to do so, especially since he had caught this on his first apprentice lesson.

He gulped down the last of his food with a satisfied mew, then looked up to his mentor. "Thanks! I'm ready now."

Shifteye got to her feet and began to leave the camp. "We're going to the Thunderpath which marks the boundary between Shadowclan and Thunderclan territory. Then we'll head back through the marsh and see if we can start a freshkill pile." She raced out of the camp without warning, planning to see if Runepaw could keep up with her.

Runepaw purred at her playful challenge, then sprinted off after her. He gave a little burst of speed to catch up with her, then continued not far behind her.
