One Sentence Description: Nightshade is a sleek black she-cat with amber eyes.
Appearance: Of course, one of Nightshade's most noticable features happens to be her coat. It is and has always been a pure, unrelenting black, all over, with no exceptions. She doesn't have a cute little pair of 'mittens,' nor a little white-tipped tail or stomach or side. Nightshade is black as night, all over. It isn't so unusual in ShadowClan, where having a dark pelt is an asset. After all, isn't that what they were named for? ShadowClan has less cover, so skulking through the night is their famous -- infamous? -- skill.
In contrast, her eyes are a shade of amber. Such a color isn't all that uncommon, though not quite as widespread as, say, yellow. Golden, whatever. Though she is considered attractive, she could also be considered .. unspectacular. Nightshade sports no wildly spotted pelts or purple eyes. Her most striking feature is her coat, black as pitch. But it doesn't mean she doesn't make an impact.

Personality:ambitious: Nightshade has goals. She she has high hopes about where she is and where she can go; how far she can travel, metaphorically speaking, and what she will become. And when Nightshade gets her mind set on something, she will go to almost any length to accomplish it.disloyal: It isn't like she doesn't care for anybody. Nightshade does have her priorities. But the only cat she really, truly trusts is herself. She'll just as quickly turn on you if it is useful to her and her endeavors. And as far as this cat is concerned, it's their fault for trusting her in the first place.insecure: No way would she tell anyone this, but Nighshade is secretly a bit insecure. Even though she appears confident and courageous, she sometimes doubts herself, her motives .. herself. This encourages her seemingly arrogant nature, and it's also why she seems to enjoy shooting others down.outgoing: With all these negative traits, you'd think Nightshade would be living heck to be around -- and in many cases she can be. But she's also outgoing, and can be fun to be around, to her friends. Just as long as she has some sort of a leadership position; Nightshade is by no means a follower.blunt: Blunt-talking, straight-shooting; she's not a bad liar but Nightshade prefers to just get to the point. She approaches directly with no side routes, even if it compromises someone's feelings. Especially if it compromises someone's feelings! Sometimes referred to as brutal honesty, Nightshade wastes no time in getting to the hard, bony reason for the conversation. No small talk, usually; and none of that wishy-washy playing it safe. Which leads us to our next quality ...daring: Bravery. Courage. Whatever you want to call it, Nightshade isn't afraid to take risks. This may make her look fearless, daring, which she can be -- but everyone is afraid of something. She just doesn't wear it on her sleeve. Nightshade takes the measures, no matter how risky they may turn out to be, because the reward could be great.confrontational: If you haven't guessed yet, Nightshade is an Enneagram Type 8: the Challenger. She is a willful, defiant cat who likes to shake things up. Powerful, decisive, domineering. Nightshade is one of those cats who is difficult to argue with, at least in length. Oh, didn't you know? It seems to be one of the laws of the universe: Nightshade is Always Right. Okay, no. But, annoyingly enough, that's how it seems sometimes.tempermental: Sometimes Nightshade's emotions can get the better of her. She gets moody, especially under stress, and if it becomes bad enough she will close off, retreat, for some time. In the heat of anger Nightshade can get absolutely ruthless, barbaric, and violent.vindictive: She can be described as vengeful, and if wronged, Nightshade wastes no time in striking back. If she doesn't get her revenge she tucks it away, harboring a grudge until the she-cat can finally even the score. And afterwards? Oh, she drops it. Simple.shrewd: Ah, the con artist, the salesman. This intellegent, streetwise she-cat uses her quick wits to get her way. In practical matters this can be quite useful, shrewdly calculating, making decisions that pay off. But more often than not, this resourceful quality is seen in less honest dealings: artful and tricky, Nightshade is not to be trusted, nor is she to be messed with.

History: Night was born a little over three years ago, in the outskirts of the land surrounding the Clans. Her history starts with a pregnant she-cat named Luna.
After they found out Luna was pregnant, her lover, a ShadowClan tom, began taking freshkill to her. At the time, Luna was staying in a barn, on an abandoned farmland northeast of ShadowClan. The warrior – a slate-gray cat named Duskheart – would bring food for her during hunting patrols and solitary trips.
The kittens were born during a raging storm. When the storm broke – and when Luna’s water broke – she was out in the fields. It was a long and muddy trek, but eventually she made it to the barn and sat up in the rafters to wait out the night. The two kits were born around one in the morning, Night and Dawn. Dawn was badly deformed, and couldn’t breathe. She died before the night was over. Luna made the mistake of getting attatched and naming the kittens too soon. Anyway, Luna raised Night, nursing her and whatnot, for around two weeks. Duskheart continued his visits, though less often now.
When Night was old enough, Duskheart and Luna decided her future. As painful as it was, Luna agreed to let Duskheart bring the small black kitten to ShadowClan. There, he said, she could have a promising future. So Duskheart took Night – now Nightkit – to his Clan. His best friend since kithood, who later became his mate, agreed to adopt Nightkit and not speak of the incident to anyone.
The rest of young Night’s kithood was largely unspectacular. She became a leader among the kittens, along with one or two others, and often got everyone into a lot of trouble. After a venture out of camp, one last shenanigans before their ceremonies, they were caught. Thus everyone’s apprenticeship was delayed by a week. Eh, no big loss, right?
So Nightkit became Nightpaw. She got a mentor and began training, eager to be a warrior, though even then you could see the seeds of what she would become as an adult. A little bold, kind of hardheaded and agressive, tempermental .. the works. But she was excellent in combat and showed to be a decent huntress as well.
Her first fight was with a group of rogues who had been encroaching on ShadowClan land. Nightpaw was about ten moons old, with a couple of months left of training. She fought alongside the warriors and two other apprentices in attempt to drive out these cats. One of the other apprentices fighting was a cat whom she had a serious crush on -- and she was pretty sure he liked her, many faults and all. They were both eager to show off their newfound warrior skills, to each other and everyone else. The tom Nightpaw liked, Rookpaw, took on a sizable white she-cat.
A cat named Luna.
Needless to say Luna took him down easily, pretty much maiming the apprentice to the point of near death. She also recognized Duskheart and gave him some scars to think about, and probably would've done worse damage if it hadn't been for the call from her leader to retreat.
Keep in mind that this battle already had Nightpaw pretty worked up, and things were going to get worse. The ShadowClanners headed back to camp, morale boosted by their win. About halfway through the fight some cats had taken Rookpaw back to camp for treatment.
They did their best, but it the medicine cat could only do so much before Rookpaw kicked the bucket. Nightpaw and the rest arrived back right before he died, and were there to see his warrior ceremony. He clung on to life long enough to be named Rookflight before he joined StarClan.
Nightpaw was heartbroken, grief-stricken, and filled to the brim with rage. It's her coping mechanism. She became extremely closed off to the entire Clan, going out only to train. And if you know Night, you know that she is vengeful, especially for something as big as this. The apprentice vowed to track down that white she-cat that had killed Rookpaw.
Her original plan was to track down Luna, swipe some deathberries, and feed them to the cat then leave, but she quickly abandoned that for a method much more brutal.
Nightpaw became Nightshade at around a year old. Not long after she became a warrior she resumed tracking down Luna in her free time. A few weeks later she accomplished the task one afternoon, simply by chance. Nightshade ran into Luna on her way back from her search. Nightshade confronted her, they began to fight, and she .. well, Nightshade killed her. But not before Luna told her that she was Nightshade's mother. This shocking news dampened sweet revenge significantly.
Nightshade brought Luna's carcass to the Carrionplace, then went to get Duskheart. She brought him to the Carrionplace, told him what happened just then and during the battle a few moons before. "Is what she said true? Is she my mother?"
"Yes." Duskheart rasped, horrified and shocked and grief-stricken as well. "Yes, that was Luna. She ... she was your mother." He brought Luna, by himself (Night was to have nothing to do with it) down by the area where ShadowClan buries their deceased. And Duskheart gave what he hoped was a proper bruial ceremony to the cat he had once loved, though he wondered -- had she changed in the year they'd been apart? Even as a rogue, the Luna Duskheart knew wouldn't hurt a fly.
But, that's another story for another day. Now Nightshade is a ShadowClan warrior of thirty-seven moons, at the time of this bio. That may be her past, but what is in her future?
