M O O S E C R E E K. Thin clouds whisked their way across the sky like egg whites. The whole sky, this light, airy but nippy morning, was washed with blue. A clear, opaque kind of blue that you saw on the wing of a blue tit. The colour darkened underneath the clouds to a grey. Maybe it was going to rain today. Who knew? Not Moosecreek - he was no weather forecaster.
Moosecreek's green gooseberry eyes sagged a little, tired. He had confided in solitude once again. The brown abyssinian rolled onto his back trying not to submit into smiling on a content day such as this. He enjoyed the misty mornings he would sometimes get up here. The moisture in the air would dampen down the grass and make everything seem so still.
The windclanner's eyes glistened like a waterfall and he flicked his long, slender tail on the ground beside him. He yawned, looking at the tips of the trees. He stretched out his back awkwardly and a swift breeze blew his short cedar brown fur, showing his athletic physique.
He shut his eyes, closing them from the harsh sunlight. An emerald beetle staggered close by him. If he listened really closely he could hear the beetle shift the dry leaves under it's six black legs.
Moosecreek sniffed, the cold snap making his nose run a little. His large ears pricked and he was sure he could hear someone approaching, maybe it was the beetle. He kept his eyes shut.

So the days were getting colder now. Already it was growing closer and closer to Leafbare, but Copperpaw didn't mind. She loved the smell of the new snow falling down, the way it landed on her nose and made her blink at the sudden prick of coldness. The way the skies turned brilliant blue against the winter white backdrop of the moors. The way the shadowy trees painted bare silhouettes against the horizon. It was all beautiful to her.
Of course, she was a dreamy kind of cat. One who would rather spend her days alone and wandering than tied down and talking about pointless conversation. That was why she spent so much time out in the open, just walking and thinking and talking to herself. She was a peculiar one, of course. But everyone loved her all the same.
A flicker of movement caught her brilliant golden eyes, and the sunny apprentice was off, curiosity haven gotten the better of her. She bounded towards the familiar face, tail waving in greeting, not caring if he wanted to be alone. He wouldn't have to be now. She was there, and she could talk enough for the both of them.
"hey moosecreek!" Copperpaw settled down beside the tom, staring directly at his closed eyes, waiting for them to fly open and acknowledge her. And until he did, she would fill up the empty space with words. "have you ever noticed how blue the sky gets before it's about to rain? i noticed that the other day when it rained really hard. and then after it rained, the sky turned this hazy gray color and then there was a streak of rainbow that i saw behind some clouds. and then i felt really happy, because rainbows are full of color and life and beauty." Oh, she loved rainbows.

"Hey Moosecreek!". Moosecreek opened his eyes in one swift jolt, taken aback. He turned his head upwards, towards the side. He gave a small, slightly bewildered smile as he saw an apprentice coming towards him. The warrior squinted his eyes a little, trying to focus inbetween the quickening flurry of snowflakes.
"Copperpaw?” – he spoke, it was strange to catch anyone else up here at this hour. He stretched before getting up from laying down on his back, making a himself into a bridge position then gradually sitting down again. He flicked his tail in greeting at the happy apprentice, how could he not be content? “Good m-morning!” – the warrior said in a chipper tone as Copperpaw sat down beside him, his stutter following quickly afterwards.
"Have you ever noticed how blue the sky gets before it's about to rain?... – he listened to her refreshing voice, blinking slowly and twitching his hare like whiskers. ”..and then i felt really happy, because rainbows are full of color and life and beauty.". More than most things, the windclanner liked to hear comments about the weather. The abbysinian looked across to Copperpaw, giving a smile from the corner of his mouth, the tussle of greyish whiskers lifted up with his cheek. “M-much like you then, full of color and life?” – he mustered up a complement, his green eyes glistened once more.
”I prefer it when the sky is cluttered with fog or m-mist and the sun can hardly get through it to touch your pelt and warm you up. But when it does, it m-m-makes all the little water droplets sparkle in the air.” Moosecreek stared outward, picturing a foggy morning before him. It finished and the warrior gave a subtle laugh, only laughing once, before returning his gooseberry green gaze back towards the apprentice. ‘”So what brings you up here with m-me?” – he asked swiftly, flicking his long tail.
