I've been on many RP genre sites over the years, but in the most recent years I've come to realize a new 'language' the new-age RPer's do. It's called 'faceclaim'. Now before all that lingo, on simple fantasy sites (years and years and years back), most admins didn't care about who you used as a reference for a character. As long as you weren't stealing original art from, say, Deviantart/etc, you could make your character look like a canon. Canon = characters from media, all ready created, etc. Applies to items too. There was no such thing as a 'faceclaim' back then. It was 'based on this appearance' or 'this appearance exactly'. Some sites didn't like it. You rarely find human rps these days that have a strict code saying you gotta make your character up, no references, no anything related to this series, etc. At least site wise.
In case nobody knows, a faceclaim is where you take the image of a celebrity/anime or manga character/famous or infamous person and use them as your character's base appearance.
The point is... I want to know what you think of this new style of role playing. Well, to me it is, being old school. I myself don't really care too much. Don't like sites that have you "must have to have a faceclaim, you muuuuuust!" in order to RP there. Animals are more suited. You have a more...creative freedom! Do you feel it strange that animal rps haven't really changed and humanoid rping has so much? Which do you prefer? Animals or humans? Both? Neither? then what are you doing on WS, you silly goose? XD Speak your mind!
Also, let's be amusing and pick out faceclaims for our own characters! Say WS was a warrior-human site. >3 What would our leaders look like? Do you have a mental image set up all ready? Do you have a faceclaim set out for your own characters, or others? It'll be fun to put into discussion. Some would be "I never thought of that!" or "wait wait wait! I always pictured -insert person here-"
Me? I can honestly say I have made up my own appearance for Lilura. She is humanoid, original features, before she became a cat and other such things I've dragged her into. Never thought of her as someone else in a human RP. Of course, Lotus can't draw humans that well. You'd be the first to see a decent picture of her.

I've been rping now for 5 years. i started wih warriors, moved to orses, and then humans. personally i prefer human rpgs. but i rally do like animal ones to. i just think it's easier to express emotions and feelings as a human character. i really dont think of a person when i make a ca. maybe personality traits of my human characters but never what they look like. haha. it's a really neat idea though.

I'm what you call 'an emotion role player'. No matter what species, I express emotion over action. People I'm rping with tend to get annoyed, but not lately. if they have, I haven't heard any direct complaints So I'm all around. If I do action, I do it in a funny, sarcastic way that expresses the emotion. x'D Lotus doesn't know how to be serious even when her character is fighting for their life.
I still find it difficult to RP humans with any sort of animals influencing it. -cough- I'm not afraid to admit I'm on Pokemon RPs. Shifter RPs are too 'carefree' and as a mythology/monsterology nut, I get cranky when I see something isn't 'by the books'.
Yeah, I prefer animals. Started with 'em. Grew up around animals all my life to not ignore how they act. I just suck at horse rping. ^^;
