white paws danced across the grassy moorland, careful and light. golden eyes, wide and innocent, glanced about warily - she wasn't supposed to be out and about, having had no training, and no permission from her mentor. still though, the tabby she-cat was curious about her land, and had sneaked away from the camp, as stealthily as an untrained apprentice could. it was sunhigh - warm and stifling, with a humid feel to the air - and most were busy with lazing about.
with a triumphant cry sorrelpaw found herself looking back at the camp. from her place in the meadow the camp seemed so far away - almost a lifetime away. how long have i been walking? she wondered, almost worried. her legs didn't hurt, though, and it wasn't like she could get lost... with a shrug she started on her journey once more, happily prancing about in the heather and grass, stopping every few minutes to roll about on the soft ground.
the small cat froze, her belly facing the bright blue sky. she had heard something unfamiliar - a solid thump. she craned her head to the right, rolling onto her paws; her eyes lit up when she spotted a small brown rabbit delicately nibbling on a blade of grass. a grin spread across her lips as she launched herself at the creature, inexperienced and unthinking. the rabbit took off, her hot in its heels; it leaped high over a patch of heather. sorrelpaw paid the plant no attention, eyes glued to the brown mammal - she plowed straight into the heather, tumbling over as it snagged at her paws.
oops...

tawnyspots was basking in the sun, waiting for her apprentice to come out of the apprentice's den, to come out and train. she didn't want to wake sorrelpaw up, it must had been really exciting last night and she wanted her apprentice to be hyper and ready for training. she spotted her apprentice sneaking out of camp. "Where is she going?" she thought quietly. this had been her first apprentice, yet she was kind of hurt that her apprentice was sneaking out of camp. she quickly followed after her, her eyes narrowed. she went pretty high out of camp, and she seemed a bit lost. tawnyspots padded up and down and all around. this apprentice wasn't even sniffing that air! well, tawnyspots had yet to train her yet, but you can't go scaring all prey away. she had passed several rabbits until tawnyspots was about to pounce on her apprentice and grab her by the scruff and cuff her around the ears. she didn't want to be the soft mentor. she stalked after her apprentice.
she watched sorrelpaw hare after a rabbit but knew her attempt would surely fail. she watched the apprentice and then began to chase after her. when she reached her apprentice, her gaze hardened. "What are you doing out here?" she growled, even though concern edged her mew. "You could had crossed the border! You could had been killed! That doesn't just affect you it affects me also." she snarled.
then, her gaze softened, and she was looking at a helpless curious kit. she wanted some of her own one day, and she couldn't help but feel bad. "I'm sorry I was hard on you. Just please, don't do that again."
