Petalwhisper you take my breath away; you’re a super nova
---- Brisk air nipped at her face as she padded along through the trees. She had left the camp behind for the day and pursued her warrior duties. Mostly because she was getting cabin fever and needed to get out. So when border patrols were being sent out, she jumped at the chance. That was this morning, just after the dawn hunting patrol got back to camp with a disappointing prey count. It wasn’t that their hunters weren’t skilled, it was the sole reason that their source of food was dwindling every day as the air got colder and the earth started to freeze quicker than ever. Thankfully though, Petalwhisper had a weapon against the approaching cold, her long thick, grey pelt did wonders to keep the she-cat warm in the bitterly cold leaf-bares.
Right now, she was not on any sort of patrol, but the hustle and bustle of the camp was starting to bug her and no one needed her for anything so why shouldn’t she get some time to herself? So here she was, trotting through her home away from her camp, to the place that she held great pleasure in. Sunngingrocks. Even when the air was cold and the rocks were slick with ice, she could still warm her body up if the sun was shining down upon them, though the first few minutes were always chilling. Slinking over a felled log, Petalwhisper caught the soft sound of the slowly flowing river and couldn’t help but grin. Even though she was not a RiverClan cat, she still enjoyed the river. Well, mostly just the sound of it roaring by. She wasn’t sure why, but it brought a calm feeling upon her.
Stepping out from the cover of the trees, the gray she-cat shook out her pelt, and let her eyes adjust to the brightness from the rare sunshine of leaf-fall. Scanning the area first for any sign of other cats, RiverClan or ThunderClan, she worked her way to the rocks and gracefully leapt onto one, almost losing her footing. A nervous giggle escaped her as her heart beat frantically. Feeling the cold seep into her pads, Petalwhisper maneuvered her way to the middle of the rocks to the biggest ones and laid herself down on her side. She shivered slightly but smiled nonetheless. Complete and total relaxation soon overcame her and a light purr resonated from deep within her chest and she closed her auburn eyes.

ivytail--You wanna know, know that it doesn't hurt me?;
-x-x- Ivytail climbed through the willow trees, sniffing for any fresh kill that might be about. While she padded softly through the snow, she had one worry ringing through her ears; Will the river be frozen? This was one of her worst fears, even though it happens all the time. When ever the river freezes, that just leaves her Clan even hungrier, and ThunderClan have a better chance to attack.
Dreading what would lay in front of her, she padded softly through the trees. Her black tail twitched madly, and distress bounced off of her in waves. She knew that somewhere, Feathertail should be following her. Ivy knew that Feathertail could take care of herself, but she still meowed, 'Feather? We should be picking up the pace if we ever want to make it to the river.' She spoke in a light tone, and kept her voice friendly. She wasn't going to act like her little brother, Poisonpaw, today.
A few seconds later, they reached the river. Ivytail finally relaxed when she saw that the river was still running swiftly, and that the fish would still be swimming in it. She meandered over to a good spot, just across from Sunningrocks. Bracing herself for the chilly water, she snapped a paw in and scooped up a fish. Killing it with a quick bite she grinned at Feather. Already they had something to bring back to camp.
Moving along the river banks, she spotted another fish. Concentrating so hard on the moving water and the fish, she hadn't noticed that a ThunderClan cat appeared. Just by chance, she happened to look up. Startled out of her fur, she jumped. And she happened to move forward a bit while she jumped. A splash echoed around what seemed to be the entire forest. Embarrassed, cold, and wet, Ivy slunk back onto the RiverClan side and began to groom the cold water out of her silver and black fur.

Feathertail followed Ivytail toward the river. The silver she-cat was very impatient she acted like the river wouldn't be there when they got there. She padded quickly to keep up but her thoughts kept wondering back Back to the nightmare that haunted her dreams. She couldn't sleep, she could barely eat. What could it all mean? She checked n Frostkit every day, pking her head into the nursery every chance she got. The little black and white tom was always there with hi en mates. He would look up at her with his blue and green eyes and just stare into her soul. There was something special about him, she could feel it in her bones. Something unusually, special. A gift from StarClan to her? Perhaps.
The silver she-cat's worried mews brought her back. 'Feather? We should be picking up the pace if we ever want to make it to the river.' Feathertail let a small smile spread across her maw. Always rushing. She picked up the pace, they were going t the river to hopefully get some fish. The clan needed food desperately during leaf-bare and their main source was the river. There weren't many wooded area on RiverClan territory so most of the ground prey had completely disappeared. Their only option left was the river. Feathertail's ribs were already beginning to show through her silver tabby pelt. But during leaf-bare she always ate less to preserve more for the elders, kits, and queens.
" We will get there, the river's not gonna freeze over in the next couple of fox lengths. " Feathertail mewed back jokingly. They reached the river, it's lovely roaring sound was music to their ears. Ivytail lit up when she saw it, She quickly made her way to some rocks to catch a fish. Feathertail followed, bounding over to one rock near he bank. She looked down into the water her icy blue eyes searching for the silver shine of a fish scale. There was a glimmer, she raised her paw, claws unsheathed. It swam closer to her rock. She threw her paw into the cold water, claws catching the fish. She whipped it out and threw it onto the bank, she jumped over to the flopping fish and finished it off. Giving silent thanks to StarClan that there were still fish in the river for her clan.
She turned around to see Ivytail with her own catch, she smiled tenderly at the young she-cat. Ivytai then looked up, shocked by what she saw she stumbled into the cold water. Feathertail jumped forward onto a rock ready to jump into the river and pull Ivytail to shore if needed. But the silver black she cat made her way to the shore quickly, obviously embarrassed. Feathertail stifled a mew of laughter. She looked toward the sunning rocks and spotted a ThunderClan cat. She could feel her hackles raise, she was now on edge. She did not trust other cats even though this one in particular looked like a fluffy kittypet.

The day was fair, at least for leafbare. A layer of soft snow laid upon the frozen earth, glistening invitingly. The russet tom trudging along wished he could leap into the drifts and play around like there was no tomorrow, and almost gave in to his temptations. But, he reminded himself that doing so would only get him wetter - and colder.
Emberflare hated the cold. Sure, he had a thick pelt, which kept him mostly comfortable, but the warrior disliked how his pads went numb. Without any sensations in his feet, hunting became more complicated; not that it wasn't hard already, what with his bright coat and the general cold that drove prey deep into their burrows. He had been with his fellow clanmates on one of this morning's hunting patrols, and that had gone rather badly. Two tiny shrews and an old cardinal, remembered the tom, grimacing. And I didn't catch any of them. I'm getting old. Emberflare sighed out loud. However, his spirits brightened as he approached his destination. The sun was shining brightly today, which meant that the rocks by the river might hold some whispers of warmth. The tom shivered. Something warm was just what he needed right now.
As he approached Sunningrocks, he sighted another cat already occupying the best spot among the stones. He could only see the cat's back; tasting the wind, Emberflare determined that the patchy grey pelt belonged to Petalwhisper. He called out a greeting to her as he padded up. "Hello, Petalwhisper. Nice day, isn't it? Well, as nice as it can possibly be." The ginger striped cat sauntered to the base of one of the larger ones and gingerly extended nose towards it. It wasn't as chilly as the snow around his ankles, but it was not as warm as he had hoped it would be. Emberflare grimaced, but he reckoned the rock was more comfortable than the snow. Bunching up his haunches, the deputy leaped gracefully onto the boulder in front of him.
A silvery flash caught his eye. Further down the river, on the opposite bank, a very disgruntled she-cat was hauling herself out of the water, while another sat nearby. The other RiverClan warrior cast a quick glance towards Sunningrocks, narrowing her eyes suspiciously at the ThunderClan cats. Emberflare watched with a bemused expression. "Even you RiverClan cats don't fancy the water at this time of year, huh?" he called lightly to them. The tom made sure to keep his tone joking; he was not at all in the mood for any confrontation, but you never knew with RiverClan cats... they were just too touchy.

Auburnfeather you take my breath away; you’re a super nova
---- Within a few seconds Petalwhisper was slipping out of consciousness. Her head swayed slightly and her purr broke off, startling her awake briefly before she nodded off again. The rock under her was still a bit chilly, but it was a pleasant contrast from the heat of the sun. Feeling the onset of a headache from the confusion between mind and body, sleep and wake, Petalwhisper sighed and opened her eyes. Flicking her fluffy grey tail so it laid differently against the rock, she layed her head onto the rock. So much for relaxing, she thought to herself gruffly.
Hearing the sounds of cats coming from all around her, her brow furrowed and she raised herself up again and she looked around till she located the cats. RiverClan.. lip curling slightly, she sat up and with her back to them started to clean her pelt, might as well because nothing else was working right now. Raising her paw to her mouth, she licked it and swiftly swiped it over her left ear a few times over until she was satisfied.
A soft purr started again in her chest and she was enveloped in cleaning her pelt and her own thoughts. But when the sound of Emberflare’s voice reached her ears, she twisted to look at him and gave him a smile. He was a handsome cat, and rightfully deputy well as far as she was concerned. She thought he carried out his second in command duties very well what with organizing duties and all that stuff.
“You got that right. Though the sun is a nice change, don’t you think?” She chirped back happily in her soft voice. She observed him as he seemed to make a decision between staying on the ground and coming up onto the Sunningrocks. Some cats, the thought flitted across her mind as he leapt up onto the rock but swiftly turning his attention to the loud splash, Petalwhisper wondered what was going on down at the river.
Fur standing up on her neck she stood up and couldn’t help but laugh, in spite of herself, how ridiculous the RiverClan cat looked with her pelt wet. Silly cat, she laughed to herself, and couldn’t help but giggle a little more when Emberflare called to them, a light, joking tone. An uneasy feeling tingled throughout her. RiverClan cats weren’t known for their funny side that’s for sure and she wouldn’t be surprised if they decided to make a big deal out of his comment

ivytail--You wanna know, know that it doesn't hurt me?;
-x-x- Ivytail began to groom very rapidly, praying that the wet water wouldn't seep to far and soak the skin. Luck seemed to be on her side this time, as she was now almost completely dry. Proud of her accomplishment, she sat up and grinned. But moments later, a ThunderClan voiced reached their side of the river, 'Even you RiverClan cats don't fancy the water at this time of year, huh?' Her first instinct was to become angry and snap back at them. The she-cat just sat there, looking nervous. But...it was just a nice day out and she didn't want to ruin it by becoming angry.
So, she stood up and stared at the two for a few moments. Then she parted her jaws, as if to say something, but then giggled. She realized how hilarious she must have looked, especially since she was a RiverClan cat and she fell into the water. Glancing back at the two cats she called back, 'Well, we aren't fish!' Giggling again, she glanced up at Feathertail and wondered what her reaction to this would be.

Feathertail's icy eyes watched the ThunderClan cat's on the sunning rocks with jealously. How warm they must be. She felt a shiver run up her spine. The sunning rocks had always been a prospective territory. RiverClan and ThunderClan had fought over it more than once. It would be nice to have on cold days like these. The ginger pelt caught her eyes. She watched the cajavascript:add("","")t from across the river, why did he look familiar? She couldn't put her paw on it. er hackles were still up on her back. Her guard still up. The tom's voice rang across the river, unfortunately delightful to her ears, "Even you RiverClan cats don't fancy the water at this time of year, huh?" his tone was joking, not sneering or proud. She felt her muscles relax a bit.
It was an unusual feeling for Feathertail to feel relaxed around another clan cat. Maybe it was just the distance separating the four. Or maybe it was something else. 'Well, we aren't fish!' Feathertail stifled a mew of laughter. Sh looked over at Ivytail her blue eyes glittering. She jumped over to her. Her mew was teasing and confident. " I'd like to see you ThunderClan cats fish!" Usually she was uptight and would've snapped at them if they were closer but she was tired of fighting. They were already fighting with WindClan the last thing they needed was a war with ThunderCln too.
Wouldn't it be nice if they were always like this? Carefree. Happy. Respectful. It would make everything so much easier if they just set aside their differences and realized that they were all cats. But they were all proud and years of this prevented that from happening. Years of hatred and betrayal. Told in the stories of the elders, battles glorified. Lives lost, but in the end they were all the same. Was there peace in StarClan? Or did the rivalry continue up there too?

Ever so slightly twisting his head, he caught Petalwhisper's features curved in an amused expression. The two RiverClan warriors, however, had exactly the opposite reaction. The she-cat that had fallen into the icy currents stood on the earth with her jaws gaping open, as if in disbelief; for a moment, Emberflare was worried that perhaps she was just one of those extremely sensitive individuals who took everything personally. The other silver tabby - who, the orange tom privately mused, was quite pretty - wore the same expression, but slightly less intense.
The silence was finally broken by the first she-cat's bubbly giggling. "Well, we aren't fish!" she meowed playfully. Emberflare's muscles loosened, glad he hadn't been facing the more irascible members of RiverClan. "I'd like to see you ThunderClan cats fish!" chimed in the second she-cat.
A grin spread its way across the cinnamon-streaked face of the ThunderClan deputy, furrowing his features. "No, thanks, that's an offer I won't be taking you up on. Me trying to fish would turn out something like..." His amber eyes alighted on the she-cat that had fallen in the river, now almost dry, thanks to the water-resistant pelt that most RiverClanners carried upon their backs. "...Oh, rather like you, but in a much more soggy state," he finished, his eyes glittering with mirth. Feathertail couldn't help but notice how handsome the ginger tom was. Even from across the river his pelt seemed a gorgeous hue of oranges with big bold white stripes. He was muscular and regal looking, by far one of the best looking cats she had seen. She caught herself staring at himself. She looked away quickly, casting her blue eyes onto the river. She was not to be thinking that way. He was a ThunClanner after all. She shook the feeling from her head. She looked back a cross the river, it was a weird feeling. To have an understanding with a ThunderClan cat, it was actually pleasant. To feel the same way, friendly, warm, and kind. The differences didn't seem so evident. They were not RiverClan and ThunderClan warriors, but cats. But it couldn't stay that way. It was only a a matter of time before she would meet the ginger tom battle. His fangs to her throat.
The ginger tom opened his maw, his deep voice a loud joking mew, "No, thanks, that's an offer I won't be taking you up on. Me trying to fish would turn out something like..." his eyes shifted to Ivytail. Feathertail let out a mew of laughter. It was pretty ironic that a RiverClan cat would fall into the river. But Ivytail had been very eager this morning and probably hadn't been paying as much attention as she should have been.
Feathertail waited for Ivytail to respond, she probably wouldn't take offense. The sunlight hit the silver tabby's pelt. It was very warm and comforting, she closed her blue eyes and took it in trying to absorb every ounce. " It's a nice day isn't it?" she mewed back over the river, " Bet the rocks are warm." she teased.

ivytail--You wanna know, know that it doesn't hurt me?;
-x-x- Ivytail grinned broad grin, glad to be joking around with a cat in a different Clan. These were weird times right now, and being friendly was a nice break. Emberflare described how he would end up like Ivy, just more wet. She wrapped her almost dry tail around her paws and let the sun soak into her fur. Next to her, Feathertail was doing the exact same thing, but she saw as she opened her eyes and glanced at the ThunderClan deputy. 'That...was....odd...'
She thought as Feathertail met his eyes and then quickly glanced away. And yet, that was the last time she ever thought about it again. This day was too nice to think about anything at all! Letting out a content sigh, she stretched until her muscles sighed with her. Today was going to be a splendid day.

The sun seemed to strengthen then, as the laugh struck a chord in his heart. Emberflare had the faint notion that if he and the second she-cat were clanmates, they would be very good friends, and perhaps a bit more. But as she was not of his clan, he had to ignore those feelings. He could admire from afar, but never get involved.
Weak thought it was, the streams of light from above brought the cats some warmth. The ThunderClan tom admired how the sleek pelts of the she-cats shone in the light. If RiverClan was known for one other thing besides their fish, it would be their healthy fur, which always somehow managed to look good, despite any environmental hardships. Blazes might burn, rain might pour, snow might cushion the ground, prey might hide away for moons, but still RiverClan would stride out of it with perfect pelts.
Emberflare was all too painfully aware of his messy appearance, how bits of debris clung to his pelt and the small clumps of fur that stuck up. Maybe I can get them to tell me their secret. mused the tom, wryly.
He opened his maw to speak when he realized he couldn't match a name to their faces. Both of the them seemed familiar... perhaps he had met them at a previous Gathering? The pretty one had a name concerning birds, or something. Whisperwing? No, that one's some ShadowClan apprentice who recently got promoted, thought the ThunderClan deputy, reminiscing about the last full moon. Oh! It was Feathertail... or so he thought. As for the other one, who wasn't a bad looker either, she was... Stormflower?
Gah. He was getting old, if his memory was this bad. Surely he had seen both of them before, and yet he could not be sure on their names. The tom twitched his ears, annoyed at himself. He brought his mind back to the present, and resolved to find out their names later. "It's a nice day, isn't it!? Bet the rocks are warm," the one Emberflare thought was named Feathertail meowed.
The deputy grimaced a bit. "Ah, I wish. I suppose they're better than nothing though. You two look comfortable enough," he called, as the RiverClanners languished in the sunlight. Petalwhisper you take my breath away; you’re a super nova
---- Sitting back and observing everything that was going on was nothing more than a bore. On a different day, maybe but for some reason she wanted to be involved in this today. Blinking slowly, Petalwhisper stood up and walked to the edge of a rock and looked down on the rival warriors. They seemed to be calm enough, and that was always a nice change. At least there didn't seem to be any threat of a brawl, at least, not yet.
Glancing at the silver she-cat, Petalwhisper thingyed and eyebrow and thought about what she had said. She wasn't too fond of the comment but it seemed to be innocent enough, however, you could never know with RiverClan cats of course. Flicking her tail uneasily, her ear swivelled as Emberflare responded to the RiverClan warrior. Hmmm, she thought to herself before smiling and sitting down on the rock.
"They could be warmer, but nothing a few moments of laying on them doesn't fix." With a completely innocent smile she tilted her head to the side slightly. "The sun is a nice change, don't you think? It's been a while." She purred with a little bit of mockery in her tone. Boredom made cats do the weirdest things. And also reminded you just how hungry you could get in a short period of time, as her stomach growled. Tucking her paws in closer and dropping her tail over them self-consciously, she smiled to the RiverClanners, cautiously.

There was a glimmer in the gray tabby's icy eyes. As she watched the ThunderClan cats from across the bank. The ginger tabby tom with his lovely golden coat. She tried to remember his name. It had to deal with his lovely coat she was sure of it... Ah! Emberflare she thought proudly to herself. He was the deputy of ThunderClan and that is why she had recognized him. She really didn't ever pay attention to any other cats at the gatherings other than the Leaders who sat on their rock and the deputies, always close by. "Ah, I wish. I suppose they're better than nothing though. You two look comfortable enough," mewed Emberflare. They sun gave off radiant warmth that day. She could feel it on her pelt the comforting warmth of the sun's rays. "The sun is a nice change, don't you think? It's been a while." mewed Petalwhisper back from across the river. Feathertail smiled and nodded in agreement, "Yes it is quiet lovely out." It was nice to not feel the tension. She could not do this with a WindClan cat. They were at war but RiverClan and ThunderClan were peaceful for the time being. It was good to keep the peace with the other bordering clan when fighting another. If not then they could team up on you. She didn't trust the WindClan cats, she suspected that they would be up to no good soon. She just prayed to StarClan that they didn't decide to ask ShadowClan for help. .
