A P P E A R A N C E:
Shadypaw is a dark colored she-cat with a strange colored coat. While her head and front legs are a deep, almost chocolate ebony, the red of her body fades to a pale reddish hue, ending nearly orange at her tail tip. She has wide, pleasant, pale green eyes and a soft, dark nose. Her body is not as slender as most she-cats, but she is not bulky either; she is a comfortable mix between the two, being a medium sized cat with rather short legs. Her ears are compact and spaced evenly on her skull, and her tail is long and whip-like. She has stout, sturdy legs and small, dainty paws, somewhat of a contradiction to one another. Her fur can sometime appear unkempt, but she does her best to keep it looking as neat as possible. It is rather short, but sits at a comfortably medium length, except in Leaf-bare, when it lengthens to warm her.

P E R S O N A L I T Y:
Shadypaw is a rather agreeable she-cat. She doesn’t seem to have much of a problem listening rather than talking; in fact, she almost seems to prefer it. This leads most other cats to think she’s shy, or quiet, when in reality, she’d much rather gather the information she needs to make her own decision and her own opinion. She has a good sense of humor, often appearing with a smile on her muzzle, or laughing at the kits near the nursery. She does enjoy spending time around the nursery, and even (StarClan forbid) the elders den. If one didn’t know any better, they’d say she actually enjoyed her apprentice duties. She’s not really a fan of fighting; she much rather let her words battle for her. She’s a believer in peace, and cooperation of all Clans. She dislikes the way others seem to treat her Clan as if they’re dangerous. While they are, she acknowledges, it doesn’t mean they’d just go out of their way to attack everyone and everything. She seems to get upset when she hears some cat speak ill of another, and her soft voice, quiet demeanor and steady gaze are often enough to chastise any bad mouther. She has an airy, almost graceful quality about her, always knowing the right thing to say, and seeming to be able to give advice when needed. She tends to stay a bit apart from the other apprentices, not always feeling as if she truly belongs with them, though she knows she does. Her loyalty is unquestionable; despite her desire for all the Clans to ‘get along,’ she would never betray her Clan to another. She seems a bit distant at times, though her warm nature and comforting voice often draw the younger cats to her like magnets when they need someone to gripe, complain, console or just listen to their rants about checking the elders fur for ticks; Shadypaw is always happy to lend an ear.

H I S T O R Y:
Shadypaw has a fairly normal kit-hood. Not much out of the ordinary happened until she was three moons old. Her brother, Cloudkit, contracted Whitecough, which soon evolved into Greencough. Unfortunately at the time, there were no herbs to be found during Leafbare. Cloudkit was isolated away from the rest of the cats, lest the contagious sickness be spread to the rest, but it didn’t take long for Redpelt, Shadypaw’s mother, to contract the sickness as well. Both Cloudkit and Redpelt soon passed on to join StarClan, leaving Shadypaw alone in the nursery, for the most part. Luckily, one of the other queens was nursing her own kits at the time, and quite happily took in the remaining kit. Shadypaw grew to apprentice hood with Graywhisker as her adopted mother; the quiet she-cat’s influence rubbed off on Shadypaw, and she was soon as serene as Graywhisker herself. When it came time to become an apprentice, Shadypaw was as excited as any kit would be, though she hid it much better than her adoptive littermates. After being named an apprentice, Shadypaw trained with her mentor 3 moons until there was a catastrophe near the camp. Graywhisker, Shadypaw’s mentor, and two other cats were killed along the border by a pair of foxes. The foxes were later driven off (with Shadypaw helping) but the deaths left the young she-cat quieter than usual, and Shadypaw seemed to draw away from the others, keeping more to herself as she waited to be assigned a new mentor. Still, through it all, she kept her softness, and her humor, though much of her heart had been broken.
