After Earthpaw had reached the stump, he waited a few seconds for Cloudedpaw to catch up, panting. "I heard that Hawkeye was hunting, he may still be out". He sniffed the air, drinking in the scents of the marsh.

"Maybe." she said sniffing. She could smell something but wasn't able to put her paw on it. "Do you smell that?" she asked nervously.

Earthpaw sniffed warily. "Yeah, what is that. It's nothing like I ever smelled in the mountains!" He looked at Cloudedpaw in worry. "What is it?" he asked.

Suddenly a badger popped out of a near by brush. Cloudedpaw yowled in surprise, but couldn't move her fur Bristled in fear. The beast was getting closer to them! What would they do? She looked to her friend for an idea, her eyes wide.

Earthpaw jumped in front of it, hissing madly. The badger looked at him for a moment then lashed out at him with a claw, bowling him over. Earthpaw yowled in pain as he rolled away. He heard another fearful hiss emmit from Cloudedpaw, willing him to his paws. With a thundering yowl, he lauched himself onto it's striped back. the badger growled and snarled, craning it's neck to bite his face.
'Never, never let a badger bite you, it may cost you alot'. Hawkeye's warning rang in his ears, and he decided enough was enough. "Run!" he hissed at Cloudedpaw. He jumped off it's back, and tried to run, stumbling and limping from it's viscous blow. He was falling behind.

(hehe....oops!) Cloudedpaw saw Earthpaw attack the brute. Her mouth gaped open as she watched the scene unfold. Was...was he protecting her. That didn't matter now. She watched as Earthpaw was struck. She started to go towards him, but was ordered to run. So she ran as fast as she could. Looking back she saw Earthpaw falling behind, and the badger was coming closer. She had to help. Making a sharp 180, Cloudedpaw raced toward the stampeding badger. Jumping she clawed onto it's face cutting it's eye all the while. She had stopped it, but only temporarily. The beast clawed her off letting her fall to the ground. A deep gash was on her flank. It was too painful for her to move. She just lay there as the creature wailed due to it's eye. (a lot of action!  ) |

"Someone help!" Earthpaw yowled. No answer. He hobbled back to Cloudedpaw, and attempted to drag his wounded friend away, but the badger was already coming. He layed her down and hissed. "Get away!"
He sat in front her, clawing at the badger's face; attempting to keep it at bay. Once again it slashed, splitting open his ear. He faltered, but got up again yowling loudly; hoping that someone would hear....

Cloudedpaw looked up to see the tom facing the beast alone. That was bravery! she tied to stand on her paws but only got into a pathetic sitting position. Hissing at the creature she helped fend it off. It simply batted her to the side sending her into a coma.

Earthpaw's vision began to cloud, he was fainting from loss of blood. He crumpled. The last things he heard were Cloudedpaw's hissing and a thunderous caterwhaul coming from the right .The scent of Firefur and Hawkeye filled his nose.

Hawkeye watched as his sister hurled herself at the badgers, cauding it to stumble. He saw that the apprentices had already done some damgae to it....
He jumped at it, clawing it's fur out. The badger obviously thought twice about taking on the large warriors, so it turened and feld into the bushes.
He heard a small wail behind him, as he saw Firefur crouched near Cloudedpaw & Earthpaw. 'Is he dead?..' he thought, horrified. "What happened?" he mewed to himself, picking up the limp Earthpaw in his jaws, as his sister clmaped onto Cloudedpaw. They then hurried to camp as fast as they could. 'Please don't be dead,' he pleaded, hoping that StarClan could hear. (made post in medicine cats den & camp, continue there)
