she had to admit he was gone, she had to. . . there was no choice to the matter. she'd avoided everything, she'd avoided it all day. but now it was nearing sunset and she needed to announce the deputy. for that matter, she had to do a few apprentice ceremonies. and at six moons of age, her kits would take part in them. in her mind, it was too soon. . . in her mind, they should have time to grieve before being tossed into clan life like this, but there was little choice to the matter. would anyone in this family have a good ceremony? she'd spoken to sandstream about getting the kits ready for it, but beyond that, they were unaware of her decision. and even she wasn't sure if she could go through with it.
pulling herself to her paws, the silver she-cat sighed, still having the scent of her mate on her fur, the scent of disease and sickness lingering with his familiar one. her bi-coloured eyes held her sadness as she reigned in her emotions, she was about to be leader of thunderclan, she needed to pull herself together. she may not want to smile, but she'd long-since perfected smiling without the emotion in it. her mother had seen to that. moving with even strides, broken only slightly by the limp that she was beginning to think was a permanent gift from the shadowclan warrior, she left the leader's stone den and out into the sunshine of camp. it didn't seem right that today could be such a beautiful day, but it was.
moving around to the spot where she could leap up onto the highrock, dawnheart's powerful muscles pushed her up until she felt her paws hit stone and was able to pull herself squarely onto the rock. from up here, the entire camp looked so different, you could see the paths that were worn down by cats long since gone, the flowers that bloomed on the warriors den, everything. it was beautiful. it was home. let all cats gather below highrock for a clan meeting. |
she wasn't just limiting this to warriors and apprentices, she needed everyone here. they all needed to hear this. her voice rang clear across the camp, betraying nothing that she was about to say. moving so that she was sitting neatly on the rock, her tail wrapped around her fuzzy paws, the she-cat settled down to wait. this wouldn't be easy for any of the clan, but it was necessary. that was what she had to keep reminding herself. credits; lyrics -- with me tonight - the used graphics -- dawn. word count -- 507 tag -- everyone. the sun was setting, and the warmth was leaving the camp, lightningflower loved the coolness of the night air, but she enjoyed the warmth of the sun more. hearing dawnheart's call, she wondered what was going on. where was emberstar? had something befallen him, that dawnheart was up there speaking for him? she strolled out of the warriors den to see what was going on. the she-cat was fairly grouchy, but then again she got all the attention she wanted when she was a kit, so it may grown into not liking what others were doing, or the sheer thought of having no personal space to sleep at night.
she came to sit below highrock to listen to dawnheart, there was something different about the she-cat sitting above her. something wrong. lightningheart, could only smell it. there was something not right here. would others figure this out, when they came to sit? "i wonder what's going on? something is up." lightningflower could only think this to herself, so she wouldn't alert her clanmates that something was wrong, but maybe that was suppose to make everyone feel that way before a deputy was given the chance to speak on highrock?
lightningflower sat far away from highrock to let others sit up close so they could hear better. she didn't mind, it was too close for comfort to sit up front anyways. the back was a bit better. more space to feel comfortable and to move around without anyone sitting behind you. she enjoyed that as she waited patiently for the rest of her clan.

E C L I P S E P A W;; So we dance.
A small she-cat turned in her den, and couldn't seem to get comfortable. She was very restless, and wanted to go hunting, but of course that never happened as of recent, since her hind leg was giving her a bit of a problem again. She sighed, and then lay there again, still, and trying to figure out why she never was able to feel useful to anyone. She was thirteen moons now, and she wanted to just be a warrior already. It was long overdue, and she knew it. She turned over once more, and then a yowl startled her. She blinked a few times, and then heard Dawnheart, no Dawnstar, she corrected herself, yowl for a clan meeting. She smiled softly, and pushed herself up to her paws, and climbed out of her den gracefully.
She stretched her front limbs, and yawned. It was already light outside, and she knew it was time for her to go. She didn't feel very bubbly, or active today, but overall she didn't care. Clan meetings were important, and she loved listening to all of the cats converse about their kithood, and she loved to see the kits joy when they finally got to be apprentices. It was a happy time for everyone, and she knew it. She was almost too distracted in her thoughts and forgot she should probably go sit under the rock, instead of daydream.
Gently, Eclipsepaw, took strides towards the highrock. She was amused and sat beside Lightningflower. She smiled, and bowed her head to the older warrior politely. Her emerald eyes showed a hint of tiredness, and happiness. She was curious of what Dawnstar called this meeting for, since Emberstar died so suddenly. She missed him, and everyone knew that he would live on in spirit for moons to come. It still was confusing, since the she-cat had his kits, and had to now fill the role of being a leader. She no longer had her mate, and Eclipsepaw knew that must have been hard for her to accept. She wondered to herself, if she would ever have the courage to do something like that.

A creamy orange tabby, tom, blinked open his topaz colored eyes, as Fireblaze heard a call to a meeting. Getting to his paws, he shook his tri-colored pelt, stretching out his legs, before padding out of the warriors den to Highrock, sitting down and curling his thick tail around his paws, his eyes glancing up at Dawnheart, wondering why she was on Highrock insted of Emberstar . Knowing Emberstar had been sick, he wonder if the sickness had taken his last life, and flicked his tail at the thought. The meeting's probrabbly about it that, and cermonies, I guees, the creamy orange warrior thought, relizing Dawnheart wanted the whole clan there.

. b r i a r f l i g h t . it was a beautiful day. the sun shone, the sky was clear, the fresh-kill pile was full...yet something didn't seem quite right amongst thunderclan. oh please, your imagining things, the young she-cat reassured herself, stretching. she blinked her good eye, looking out into the clearing of the camp she notcied dawnheart making her way out of emberstar's den. slight confusion planted itself in the young she-cat as dawnheart made her way to the highrock, leaping on to it. where was emberstar? sick? visiting starclan? briarflight considered going to talk to her, but the fact that she was on highrock probably meant that this was not the best time.
the young she-cat gingerly unsheathed he claws, scraping hard at the ground. something wasn't right. let all cats gather below highrock for a clan meeting. briarflight's ear's perked at this. she stared at her friend for a moment before padding into the clearing with everyone else. she noticed that dawnheart didn't leave out the kits. damn. something really is wrong she thought. she padded near the back, her blue eyes searching for an answer in her friend's bi-colored ones. note;
okay, pretty much, the clan knows or some at least do, that emberstar was sick, they don't know any specifics really. dawnheart at the time of this hasn't traveled to get her lives or anything, and ember died late the night before after the sickness got to be too much. so this'll be wrapping up all the tasks that he wouldn't have been able to perform while he'd been sick; ceremonies, announcements, all that jazz. the time is late afternoon, with the sun already sinking. so the whole sunset time line will be followed. maple; odds are bri wouldn't know just yet, only that something was wrong, as for the kits, they know their father is dead. but beyond that, the clan doesn't know much. =] happy role playing.

. b r i a r k i t . it was a horrible day. briarkit just wanted to stay in the nursery, sleep, and try to forget about the horrible events that had occurred the previous night. but he couldn't. no matter how much the young tom closed his eyes no sleep really overcame him. his eyes were heavy, but not with sleep. where was applekit? she must have been taking it the hardest out of the litter. her being the closest with their father and all. fresh, raw pain washed over the tom again, making his tiny body begin to shake. he envied her, applekit, for having that relationship with his father. he had longed to have that relationship...that wasn't going to happen anymore. the little kit wrinkled his nose, squeezing his eyes tight to try to make his thoughts go away. but how could he not think about his father? sure, emberstar had loved little briarkit but briarkit had always felt like he was in a sea of cats. striving to be noticed.
but there were four of them. so then why did briarkit feel so left out? applekit and scoutkit had eachother, and jasperkit behaved like he didn't need anyone. briarkit sighed sadly. he buried his nose in his nest, opening his blue eyes. i'm six moons old. a voice inside him whispered. who cares he argued back. his eyes were beginning to get heavy, with sleep this time. just as he began to drift into unconsciousness, a clear voice shattered any chance of him sleeping. let all cats gather below highrock for a clan meeting. he raised his head, blinking twice before slowly rising to his feet. everything protested. i'd rather just stay in the nursery for another moon he hissed to himself, slowly making his way outside to the edge of the clearing. he sat, tail over his paws and waited for his mother's announcement. willing her to hurry up, so he could go back to sleep. he looked at his mother, to see that her bi-colored eyes must have been reflecting briarkit's. she was just as sad.

"Let all cats gather below highrock for a clan meeting." Silverwolf heard Dawheart call. She raced out of the warriors den and to the clearing. She knew that some of the kits were becoming apprentices, and that Emberstar was very sick, but why was Dawnheart calling the Gathering? Was something wrong? Had something happened? Silverwolf shook her head. If something was really wrong, surely she would have heard of it by now. She set her mind back to the kits and apprentices. She longed to have one as her apprentice, especially since it had been so long since her last apprentice. Training with younger cats was a lot of fun, and Silverwolf enjoyed spending her time training them. She thought of her last apprentice, Eclipsepaw, now becoming Eclipseheart. Silverwolf was proud of her, but was sad all at the same time. She had failed to train Eclipsepaw all the was through her apprenticeship. She only trained her for a while then... Well, no more.
Silverwolf looked up at the highrock. She stared at Dawnheart, just sitting there, awaiting everyone's arrival. Silverwolf wondered what it was like to be her... A Deputy. Silverwolf longed to be ThunderClan's Deputy, but she was almost 100% sure that it would never happen. She sighed, and looked at the kits becoming apprentices. She gave a silent prayer to StarClan that one of them would become her apprentice. She looked around once more at the cats, seeing everyone emerge from they're dens. If only, if only. She thought while thinking about what it would be like to be a Deputy. Being Leader would come next. Looking out over the camp, watching over her clan... She didn't know what she wanted more.
OOC Sorry, I had like 5 minutes, and when I only have 5 minutes, I don't have such good muse. My next post will be 10 times better... Promise. Actually, I modified it just now(This morning) but I still didn'y have very long... Sorry...

Leafclaw had just raked up a pile of moss, and had set it in just the perfect place. After a long day, he wanted a good nap before going pack out at the moonhigh patrol. Upon laying down, streching his tail and limbs, he closed his eyes tumbling down into the land of his dreams.
Smelling ash and smoke, he looked around the dark space. It appeared that he was no where. Everything was black, just beyond his reach. Even the ground was dark, and had not detail. He could feel the grass under his feet, and the breeze hitting his fur, so it was very confusing. Just as something came flying towards him in his dream, he was jolted awake by Dawnheart calling out for a clan meeting.
Knowing that was most of the sleep he would get, Leafclaw walked over to the base of the rock. Sitting down , he ondered what might be happening. His heart rose up into his throat. Has something happened? He worried. Are we at war? What is going on?! Now on edge, he awaited Dawnheart's annoucements with wide eyes.

Erugh. You got to be shitting me.
Fireclaw juddered into camp. Landing heavily on her fore-paws, un balancing herself. She was tired and bored and wanted to do nothing else than bully a few cats out of the warriors den and flop down and sleep. She hadn't brought back any kills, infact, she had eaten them all. So what? So sure her, she was hungry and feeling weak. Her hopes of just going and sleeping evaportated like noboies business and fury and irritance as she excecuted a swift turn towards teh meeting place.
The bulky she-cat used her shoulders to bully other out of the way and her formidably long claws protruding from her pads discouraged much argument from the rest of them. His pale green eyes were slitted as she found her space and flopped down. Not much caring for formalities at the moment. Secretly she hoped for an apprentice but she shouwed nothing. It would be fun to tougen up some of the younger generation. But then again, they were probably to loyal for their own good. She snorted and curcled her body a little, her main coon like tail placed across her hind legs in a very lady-like manner.
Let's do this shit.

Lilypaw yawned sleepily as she wondered back into the camp, freshkill hanging from her mouth, she’s just been out hunting and couldn’t help to wonder where Dawnheart was. Lilypaw hadn’t seen her since a few nights ago when she’d ran into her after coming back from seeing Emberpaw. I miss him so much..., She thought and pictured the tom and felt a small purr come from her and she hurried over to the freshkill pile and set it down. As the scents filled her nose she shrugged it off and walked towards the apprentices den. Lilypaw hadn’t really been hungry, something about how she hadn’t seen Emberstar at all made her a little bit upset. Plus how she had noticed that Dawnheart had been acting different the night that she’d seen her. I know she understands...she knows how I feel about Emberpaw, and it’s not just some little apprentice game of seeing other clan cats...so she’s not avoiding me. What if Emberstar got worse..., Lilypaw felt like a rock was stuck in her throat.
Lilypaw walked towards the Apprentice Den and caught a scent, smiling she trotted towards it, knowing it was her other den mate, Eclipsepaw. Eclipsepaw! She meowed, as she trotted to the den, but her voice was covered by someone elses from high rock. And it wasn’t Emberstar’s voice, but her mentors. Dawnheart? Let all cats gather below highrock for a clan meeting. Oh starclan..somethings happened hasn’t it? Lilypaw thought and couldn’t get her paws to move for a few seconds. Only Eclipsepaw walking by out of the den caught her attention and after a few seconds of looking up at Dawnheart, Lilypaw hurried after her friend.
When she reached the black she-cat’s side she said a quick and polite hello to Lighteningflower before she sat down beside Eclipsepaw and smiled. Do you know what’s going on? I’ve really not got a good feeling about this...what if something’s happened. She said softly, she knew she wasn’t really scared, if something happened bad she knew her mentor could take care of it, it was just that she was worried. What if something bad happened to Emberstar? I know Dawnheart would still be strong and there, but would I be able to do that if something happened to Emberpaw? Lilypaw glanced at her mentor above her and smiled softly, quietly asking what was wrong. OOC|| Notes|| well the icon didn't come out like i thought it would..

Scoutkit sighed softly and set his face down on his paws, he’d just once again escaped Sandstream again. All day she’d been fussing over his fur, and kept making sure he hadn’t ran off again out into the forest. I need to be though...If I’m going to take care of Applekit and Dawnheart then I need to keep practicing. He thought and flicked his orange tail slightly. All of his littermates where all bigger than him, even his sister, but he knew he could at least learn to be able to take care of them. I really miss Emberstar..., Scoutkit said aloud softly. Ever since his father had died he’d been trying to be strong, but all he wanted to do was just lie there for a while, and think.
let all cats gather below highrock for a clan meeting. Scoutkit’s small orange head lept up from where it had lied down on his paws. That wasn’t the same clan calling his father had done, but it was a calling all the same, one that he could attend, no matter how much he wanted to just think and let the tears fall that needed too. His green eyes caught his brothers pelt leaving the nursery. Sandstream didn’t follow him out so quickly as he could, Scoutkit jumped from his spot by a tree and pelted into the clearing, an orange ball of fur running and only stopping when he got to his brother. Almost falling on his face by doing so. Briarkit, are you okay? Do you think Mom’s going to tell the rest of the clan about...that? He asked quietly and brushed his pelt against his brothers the best he could, because he was shorter than him. Scoutkit smiled over at his brother and just sad down beside him, leaning against him so that he could feel like he wasn’t alone in this. The small tom’s eyes moved up to highrock where Dawnheart was, and he smiled, even though it didn’t move the sadness that was still in his eyes. I just want to be strong for them... OOC|| Notes|| I shall fix the thingies later!!

The air was cool on Silverwolf's pelt. The wind calmly whisped through it, making it stream like a river. Even though she wasn't a long haired cat, her fur could still move with the wind. She saw Briarkit, Applekit, and Scoutkit all emerge out of the nursery. She looked at they're say faces, wondering what might have upset them. They began to talk, so Silverwolf loked away, not wanting to easedrop. As hard as she tried not to, she still heard the kits overtalking. She could have sworn she had heard Scoutkit say something about Emberstar, and missing him. Missing! Silverwolf thought in alarm. She thought she may have just simply misunderstood them, but if not, why would they miss him? He couldn't travel being as sick as he was, and it's not like a group of cats would have carried him off anywhere. Silverwolf shook her head, clearing her horible thoughts. It was probably just a misunderstanding, and everything was probably just fine. Maybe Dawnheart was just announcing that Emberstar was better... And of course the kits and apprentices cerimony... But if he was better, then why would Dawnheart be calling the meeting? And why would she look so down.
Something had to be wrong! Silverwolf just knew it! She could hardly stand still. She wanted to race up to the highrock and find out what was happening NOW! How could she wait for everyone to come, and for Dawnheart to finally announce it? It was like waiting to get killed by a monster. Once again, Silverwolf shook the thought out of her mind. She concentrated on the kits becoming apprentices. Then she saw Applekit, and for some reason, Silverwolf really seemed to like her. She would love it if Applekit were her apprentice! So, she decided to walk over to the kits and say hello, make sure everything was OK, ya da da da da... Silverwolf took one last glance back up at Dawnheart to make sure she was alright before heading over to the three kits.
Not trying to but in on they're conversating, Silverwolf trotted over to them, wiggling through cats, then found a spot to sit with the kits. "Hello," She spoke. She didn't realize how awkward it was to talk to kits at a clan meeting when she was a warrior, even if these kits were becoming apprentices. "I hope I'm not interuping you three. So, how's it going? Is everything alright with all of you? I'm sure you'r excited to become apprentices. You know, I'm looking to become a mentor again. Who do you think my apprentice will be?" Silverwolf asked, trying to get the kits having fun, playing a little guessing game. Even though she herself didn't know who her apprentice would be, if she got one, there was still no harm in playing a game with the kits. She stared at the three of them, staring at Applekit for the longest. Again, Silverwolf wasn't sure why, but she almost felt something between them. She wanted Applekit as her apprentice now. As Silverwolf awaited they're replies, she hoped that she wouldn't make them feel embarrased or shy, or anything that would make them feel worse. She could already tell they were sad, and if one of them were to become her apprentice, there was no way she wanted to make it worse.
{OOC This is weird... It's 10:00, and I didn't have enough muse to even type a single word 10 minutes ago, and no I made this whole post... And the weirdest part is, I still have like no muse, but I do... I know, it doesn't make any sence... Also, are Briarkit, Applekit, and Scoutkit becoming Apprentices? Last thing, I modified my post, and I hope it's alright....}

Fadedstorm was walking back into camp from making dirt and glanced around, the camp was quiet. At least it seemed that way, usually there was the four kits of Dawnheart and Emberstar that were making some commotion, but today they weren’t. His gut told him something was wrong, quickly his eyes moved to the leaders den. Did something happen? Even when we all knew Emberstar was just sick they were still playing...what if there’s a reason behind why they aren’t playing. Fadedstorm felt his own heart give an odd thump. He knew to well how it felt to lose someone, he never wanted his friend, Dawnheart to feel that. Like I had to go through when Moonbreeze died. He quickly pushed the white she-cat’s face from his mind and set back to walking.
The tall tom was so deep in thought that he didn’t really notice that the she-cat that he’d spent many moons being den mates with had came out of the leaders den. let all cats gather below highrock for a clan meeting. Fadedstorm turned his gaze to Dawnheart and tried to catch her bi-colored eyes. Even without catching his friends eyes he could tell something was wrong, he just knew the she-cat. He stood where he was and gazed around looking for Briarkit and the rest of the kits. He saw the bright orange one, Scoutkit, look around quickly before dashing across the ground towards his brother who had just left the nursery by himself. Both looked just like their mother, sad about something.
I think something has happened..., Fadedstorm was about to walk towards the other gathering warriors when his eyes landed on the silver pelt of another warrior who was heading towards the distressed kits. Silverwolf..., Fadedstorm felt a small sigh escape him before he walked towards the she-cat and the two kits. Hello there Scoutkit and Briarkit. Do you know where your sister and other brother are? He said and winked softly at the two kits before turning to the warrior beside them. He’d also grown up with this she-cat but he still didn’t know her to well, but when he heard what she had said he gave her an odd look and walked beside her and sat down, between her and the kits, not trying to be rude at all. Silverwolf! I haven’t talked to you in ages! Fadedstorm said and pointed his tail over to where two apprentices, Eclipsepaw and Lilypaw were sitting. Don’t you think we should go sit your apprentice? Wasn’t Eclipsepaw your apprentice before she got hurt? Besides if your looking for an apprentice I heard Lightningflower is also, you two could talk about it, and I was thinking of taking one on anyway. He said and purred a laugh, quiet glad at his acting skills and how this was going so smoothly. Fadedstorm then lowered his voice so that the two small toms beside he couldn’t hear and smiled tiredly at the she-cat, I really think something’s happened and if it has...it’s very slim that their mother would apprentice them. Even though they are of age. Let’s leave them be for a while, besides I really think your old apprentice would like talking to you. The two toms probably need some time with their sibilings if worst has came to worst. He finished his small speech and shrugged his shoulders before standing again, brushing his pelt against Briarkit who was closest to him and smiled encouragingly before heading over two the group of cats near the front. He walked over towards the two apprentices, sitting on the other side of Lilypaw and glanced at Eclipsepaw, I think Silverwolf may be joining us soon, but how have you been Eclipsepaw? How is your training going? Lilypaw, how’s training with Dawnheart? He asked the apprentices and turned to look over the two at Lighteningflower and smiling a welcoming. Hello my dear. How have you been? OOC|| Notes|| I love Fadedstorm! This was my first post with him and I already love him. Silverwolf I kinda just thought that it would be cool for the two of them to talk and stuff. Plus Applekit isn’t really there..plus the kits don’t know what’s going on, neither does anyone else here, so Silverwolf really shouldn’t know that the kits are or are not being apprenticed...

[bg=2d4020]
she'd gone out to get a few mice for the kits, and when she'd come back in, the only three who were left were jasper, apple, and briar. shaking her head, she pushed herself into the nursery and placed the mice on the ground somewhat near the moss pallets that they'd been using. moons ago, she'd told dawnheart that she would watch over the young fur balls while she went on training lilypaw, or checking in with reedmist about her leg, and eventually, being deputy. she owed it to the she-cat who had taken care of her while she'd been a kit. her mom's sister had been the cat who had saved dawnheart's life as a young kit, and she'd been named after her, but the silver deputy had always had a special liking in her heart for the spunky she-cat. . . even when she didn't deserve it. but she still took care of the young cats, even though by the end of the day she was more worn out than they were.
sighing at the sight of the three cats, she shook her head. sandstream wished there was something she could do for them, but the loss of their father wasn't something that someone could help with. curling up next to applekit and licking the she-cat's head. the only daughter of the former leader and the upcoming leader had to be taking it hardest of all, dawnheart had come in and told them late last night about the passing of the mahogany tom, and that she was planning on holding the apprentice ceremony for the young cats at the same time as holding the deputy ceremony. so that morning, she'd spent a fair amount of time giving the cats a bath, getting their fluffy fur completely straightened up and shiny.
let all cats gather below highrock for a clan meeting. |
pricking her ears, she nudged briarkit forward, but looking at apple and jasper, their sleeping and still forms. . . she didn't quite know what to do. jas, apple. . . your mom called a meeting. head out there as soon as you can, okay? but she didn't wait for a response before heading out there herself. her firey pelt glittered in the afternoon sunlight as she looked around at the cats that were trickling into the main part of the camp and gathering under the highrock. her ivy eyes rested on the new leader for a moment, well aware how hard this was going to be for her, but willing some sort of good feelings toward her friend. trotting over towards fadedstorm and silverwolf, well aware of scoutkit who was standing there. no one had told the kits that they were being made apprentices today, dawnheart hadn't said to tell them, and since she hadn't said it around the kits, they were unaware. evening fadedstorm. silverwolf. scout, briar. giving a nod at the two warriors and an apologetic smile at the two kits, falling into her usual personality of optimism. as hard as it was to find something happy in this situation.
